HULK STRATEGIES

The Incredible Vanguard

As a Vanguard, Hulk serves best as a traditional tank. Utilizing Hulk's Incredible Leap ability, the general strategy should be to jump behind enemy lines, wreak as much havoc as possible and leap back out before you revert to Bruce Banner - Banner is particularly weak, with just a measly 200 HP, so timing your Leap is crucial for survival. Hulk's main Hero form can withstand a lot of damage, with a +150 Season Buff bringing his base up to 800 HP. Players can capitalize on this large health pool during strong pushes by enemy forces, distracting opponent's from their objective and forcing them to turn around and face them while their Duelists take advantage.

Hulk can gain even more survivability by timing Indestructible Guard after sticking the landing after a Leap, absorbing and converting damage into energy for HULK SMASH!

Hulk's biggest weakness as a melee character is his range. In matchup's against long-range Duelists or flyers, Hulk is relegated to off-tank, serving more as a distraction and nuisance while a main tank which more versatile abilities, like Magneto or Doctor Strange fight with a bit more distance.

If damaged enough to revert to Banner, players only have 200 HP before imminent death. If you revert behind enemy lines, you're as good as dead. If you manage to get a Leap off, find your Strategists and duck for cover.

Hulk is currently the Anchor character for the Team-up bonus for Iron Man and Doctor Strange, augmenting their abilities and attacks as well as benefitting from a permanent buff to health and is currently a top Vanguard pick for Season 0.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Hulk is a formidable tank, thanks to Season 0's Team-up bonus, but is held back by a short range and melee-focused moveset. To maximize Hulk's effectiveness, utilize Incredible Leap to get behind the enemy and give your Duelists an opening. Keep an eye on your health and cooldowns and try to get out of danger before reverting to Bruce Banner. If the opposing forces are comprised of long-range Duelists or flyers, support another tank as an off-tank and do what Hulk does best: SMASH!

Marvel Rivals is set to release globally on December 6, 2024 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will be free-to-play with a current line up of 33 characters from Marvel Comics.
