Pro Quest Singapore Week 2

The results for Pro Quest Singapore Week 2 have set many metaphorical cats among many actual pigeons. The win rate of so many heroes have shot up a great deal with the absence of Zen and Enigma, as I had predicted.

It's with this new meta game, that we high level Flesh and Blood players may yet wonder what the scope of things to come will be if things continue at this trend. All that and more in the article to come.

Pro Quest Singapore Week 2

With Zen and Enigma gone, their wins were eaten up by a mixture of decks, and with a deck which was previously regarded as the best deck in the format now suddenly without its biggest competitor, one lightning fast deck has hit an absurd height.

Falling Star

Aurora, Shooting Star's win rate has been absurd. With nearly double the wins she received in week 1, she's jumped to 914 points as of the time that this article was published. Even with a reduced number of sanctioned events during this particular weekend, if she even gets half the number of wins she secured this weekend, she is gone before the final week of Pro Quest.

What does this mean for the game going forward? Aurora has been marketed as the entry level hero, from new set, to First Strike deck, to Armory deck. There's the appeal for new players to see a cute Magical Girl style character, latch on, then genuinely win games. There are a few players at the local London Armory's that are playing and loving Aurora regardless of her huge meta share, that are incredibly disheartened at the prospect of her hitting Living Legend as soon as this weekend. It leaves a level of dissatisfaction on a consumer basis to see the hero leave after less than 3 quarters of a year of competitive viability.

This is the ultimately the nature of Flesh and Blood's Living Legend system. If a deck is strong but unchecked, then it will over perform, and be removed from the game. We were quick to welcome the departure of Enigma, but when a deck is more ubiquitous, we have to be content with losing the highest performing Aggro deck of the meta. Guess we better dust of Dash I/O and Cindra, Dracai of Retribution.

Autumn's Touch

As handily predicted, Florian, Rotwood Harbinger has quickly taken the place of Enigma as the stalling, defensive deck of the new meta. With multiple different versions playing midrange aggression Trot Along paired with Reaping Blade or the LSS intended One Turn Kill versions which pair Channel the Millennium Tree with Scepter of Pain.

Florian is a versatile, defensive value deck that the entire player base agreed would become a dominant force in the new metagame without Enigma's influence, and without Enigma hampering his win rate. For anyone with access to the Earth Card Pool, or anyone that enjoys following a methodical and deliberate Gameplan, Florian looks to be a strong deck choice for this Pro Quest, and the rest of your locals going forward.

Bonds of Attraction

While I am not surprised to see Nuu, Alluring Desire being the third best deck given the data, I am personally surprised to see Nuu being the third best by such a landslide. With Enigma, one of her toughest matchups gone, she is able to bring her level of control to the meta game alongside Florian.

The other strength of Nuu is how flexible her deckbuilding is. Aurora has one build. As I've said in past articles looking at other high level events, the only variance in deckbuilding for Aurora is how many copies of Flicker Wisp you run. Nuu is a very flexible deck. She can be built with a minor Mark package with Hunter's Klaive or as a dedicated fatigue deck with Count Your Blessings. That flexibility, and the fact that Pro Quest Singapore Week 2 was a store level event, allowed brewers to play to their local meta, rather than the worldwide one.

Up and Comers

With the biggest oppressors of fair decks now out of the format, some may joke that nature is healing.

Numerous Warriors and Brutes all made winning finishes this Pro Quest week. With Enigma there not to stopgap their numbers based aggression, decks like Kassai of the Golden Sand and Levia, Shadowborn Abomination took one win each.

The distinct lack of Enigma was a strong showing for all the playable Guardians. ajv001-rf-jarl-vetreidi-armory-deck-origins-jarl-vetreidi-precon secured 6 wins because of the nature of the Ice talent, and his naturally positive matchup into Aurora. The two wins each for Bravo, Showstopper and Victor Goldmane, High and Mighty is a clear indication of the uptick in Guardian that LSS and the player base all expected.

What's important to note are the decks that had wins in the middle of the pie chart. The meta game is wide open in a world where Prism and Kano can get significant wins.

Wrap Up

Pro Quest Singapore Week 2 has been a whirlwind of emotions and results. We cannot say for sure what Aurora's status will be going into week 3, nor can we as a player base fix on what a best deck looks like.

Only time will tell going forward, but keep your eyes fixed to DotGG Media for all your competitive Flesh and Blood news.
