Tifa’s Holy Flame Gloves Weapon & Gear Review

Introduction

In this article, we'll review Tifa's newest weapon, the Holy Flame Gloves. This weapon shares a banner with Lucia's Holiday Revolver. We will break down its abilities and support materia slots, explore some potential builds in which it might be used, discuss sub-weapon use, and consider its future-proofing.

Base Stats

[PATK: 239] [MATK: 173] [HEAL: 152] (90 OB0)
[PATK: 573] [MATK: 415] [HEAL: 212] (90 OB10)
[PATK: 597] [MATK: 432] [HEAL: 228] (90 OB+20)

The Holy Flame Gloves are Tifa's highest physical attack weapon, making them ideal for dealing pure physical damage. Her previous options were the Tiger Fangs, which weren't primarily designed for dealing physical damage, and the Amarant Claws, which buff her attack but have a low damage modifier. However, the Holy Flame Gloves have lower magical attack and are nearly at the bottom in terms of healing potency. These aspects don't really matter, though, as I mentioned earlier, since it's a weapon focused on physical attacks.

C-Ability

Freezing Blow (4 ATB)

Blizzara Smash [Phys. Ice]
340% Phys. Ice Damage [Range: Single Enemy]

Freezing Blow [Phys. Ice]
440% Phys. Ice Damage [Range: Single Enemy]

Freezing Blow [Phys. Ice]
530% Phys. Ice Damage [Range: Single Enemy]

Freezing Blow+ [Phys. Ice]
660% Phys. Ice Damage [Range: Single Enemy]

Freezing Blow++ [Phys. Ice]
800% Phys. Ice Damage [Range: Single Enemy]

Its C-ability is a simple yet effective single-target physical ice damage. This one fills a niche for ice-based physical weapons. All the ice weapons in the game before this were magical attack-based, so it's nice to see one designed for physical attacks. The modifier is on par with Sephiroth's Edged Wings, making it pretty great.

R-Abilities

40 Boost PATK / 36 Boost Ice Pot.

Its R-abilities are 'Boost Physical Attack' and 'Ice Potency,' which are excellent offensive R-abilities. These bonuses align with the dominant base stat of this weapon, which is beneficial. It grants 24 points and 9 points, respectively, at level 90. At max level, it provides 30 and 36 points.

Sub-weapon use

For sub-weapon use, it's excellent for physical attack damage dealers, although the physical attack bonus is a bit lower compared to weapons like Motor Drive and Black Whiskers. Nevertheless, it can still effectively boost physical attack. It will also be beneficial for ice damage dealers. However, the physical damage boost most likely won't be useful since the other ice weapons are based on magical attack damage.

Support Materia Slots

PATK Boost I
PATK Boost I
⬤ Sigil Boost I

It has two slots for 'Physical Attack +20%' support materia and a Circle Sigil boost slot. The first two slots are useful for incorporating coverage materia, and the Circle Sigil damage boost is always beneficial. Overall, they are really good support materia slots.

Gear

The Fairy of the Holy Flame gear looks fantastic on Tifa! (Well, everything seems to suit her!) It provides 5 points of physical attack and 10 points of Frostblade Arcanum, boosting ice damage by 35%! It's a must-pull because historically, Arcanum gear has been one of the decisive factors in choosing an elemental damage dealer for missions or dungeons, particularly if you don't have Sephiroth's Ice Arcanum gear.

Conclusion

It's a good weapon to pull for and invest in because it fills a niche for ice physical damage weapons. Although there are other ice-based weapons in the game, they rely on magical damage. Therefore, for enemies with high magical defense, this weapon will be highly valuable. While it could potentially be power crept in the future, I don't believe it will happen soon. Overall, it's a good pickup, and the gear on the banner is a must-have, making it a win-win.
