Remember that only the above-mentioned characters will get the buffs!
After the above characters (Dehya, Chevreuse, Keqing, Fischl, Chiori, and Ningguang) join your party, Max HP, ATK, and DEF are increased by 20% |
Opening Characters and Special Guests
Opening Characters are the first 6 characters that you will get when you start the Imaginarium Theater. You can either use the Trial Characters given or use your own characters if they are built even better than the Trial Characters and have higher constellations. The Opening Characters in version 5.0 are (C0 for every character):
(1) Dehya
(2) Chevreuse
(3) Keqing
(4) Fischl
(5) Chiori
(6) Ningguang
Special Characters are the units that can be brought along in the roster who do not meet the Elemental requirements for that season. However, there are no trial characters for Special Guest Stars!
If you do not own said character or the level that does not meet the requirement, you will not be able to bring them along. The Special Guest Stars are:
(1) Venti
(2) Kinich
(3) Yelan
(4) Sucrose

Imaginarium Theater Season 4 Guide
When you first start the challenge, you can see the reaction level at the top. By picking up the Brilliant Blessings event, you can choose to upgrade the reactions provided. Of course, the reactions are randomized so you can't upgrade every reaction willy-nilly.
This is an example of a Brilliant Blessing event. You can use 60 Fantasia Flowers to upgrade a reaction. Don't underestimate it because these reactions will save your day, especially against bosses!
Act 1 - 3 | Hydro Tulpa
In Act 1 and 2, you will get 6 Starting Characters. The first thing I want to remind you is that the first boss you'll encounter is Hydro Tulpa - the one with constant Hydro state. Because of that, you can't take advantage of the reaction buffs in Act 3.
That's why right now, choose one reaction you want to use in Act 6 instead - the Legatus Golem boss. Conveniently, that boss will have a Geo shield so the Crystallize reaction buff (Geo x Electro for now) is great for you. Select the Brilliant Blessing event that will upgrade that reaction. You can Refresh Events on the bottom right if you don't get any Brilliant Blessing event. After that, choose a Companion event for some characters.
Now that you upgrade reactions and choose more characters, pick a Battle. To get the Star, you only need to defeat the enemy within the time limit. But remember that the Star is just for flexing and doesn't affect rewards.
When choosing any Battle, READ the performance and opponents' details and check whether your team have the synergy to fight the battle. The more Fantasia Flowers you get, the better since you can get more characters/buffs from the events.
Now for the battle themselves, make sure to save the best characters (the characters for the reactions you've been upgrading) for the 1st and 2nd boss battles and use other characters first.
As mentioned before, Hydro Tulpa is the boss in Act 3 and it will be in constant Hydro state. It's best if you save a Pyro character for that stage so you can take advantage of the Hydro and trigger a constant Vaporize reaction.
1 | Select a reaction you want to be using the most when facing the boss in Act 6 (Crystallize / Overload) - Crystallize (Geo x Electro) is the most recommended against Legatus Golem since you can frequently trigger Crystallize with its Geo shield Upgrade said reactions when you have the events. |
2 | Spend the remaining Fantasia Flowers on Companion event so you'll more characters in the roster. |
3 | Save the Main DPS (preferably Pyro character) and Support/Sub-DPS at least 1 Vigor for the boss battle in Act 3 |
Now for Act 3, you will be facing Hydro Tulpa. Bring along the Main DPS and Support you have been saving for. In my case, the main DPS is Arlecchino with some help from Raiden for small reactions. The last 2 characters are the ones that I'm not planning to use in the future Acts so I'd bring them along.
During the boss fight, it's just the same old 'attack the boss while avoiding its attack'. But one thing you need to focus on when fighting Hydro Tulpa is when it spawns small Half-Tulpas.
During the battle, a Half-Tulpa will spawn every few seconds. The Hydro Tulpa will absorb the Half-Tulpa to enter an enhanced state. In this state, its AoE and DMG dealt are increased, and RES to all DMG is increased by 45%. Make defeating the Half-Tulpa your top priority because you definitely don't want the boss to enter the enhanced state. The best method to kill it is using an elemental reaction so its Hydro shield will deplete super fast. Once the Hydro shield is gone, it will automatically be defeated.
Act 4 - 6 | Legatus Golem
Now starting in Act 4 and Act 5, you need to think about who's the best character and team for boss battle in Act 6 because you'll be facing Legatus Golem. Obviously, it's best if you have a Geo DPS because you either going to be relying on Geo / Overload reaction to deplete its Geo shield. Thus, choose the Companion event until you have one Main DPS you deem suitable for the battle (in my opinion, the best one is Navia, she's great for both bosses in Act 6 and Act 8).
You can also start upgrading other reactions if you see fit. If you have already completed leveling one reaction to the max, I recommend leveling others now.
In Act 4, there is only a Monolith Defense battle like the one in Spiral Abyss. Since the Special Guest has both Venti and Sucrose in it, if you have them, please bring at least one of them along in this Act as they makes everything much easier.
But I want to remind you that there is one easy Monolith Defense stage where the enemies are the Ruin Guards. In addition, only one Ruin Guard will spawn at a time so if you don't have any Anemo CC, you can bring a single-target DPS to deal with the enemy. Try to refresh the Act a few time until you see Ruin Guard as the sole enemy in Act 4 (You can see it in my image above and also in the YouTube video I provide).
1 | Choose Companion event until you have that one Main DPS for boss battle Legatus Golem. |
2 | If you already have the DPS you want, spend Fantasia Flowers for either more characters or upgrade other reactions you want. |
3 | Save the Main DPS and Support/Sub-DPS at least 1 Vigor for the boss battle in Act 6 |
In Act 6 - the boss battle - you'll be facing the Legatus Golem. You should've upgraded the reactions you want to use for this battle since Act 1. As mentioned before, Legatus Golem will have its Geo shield up, so a Geo character is the best for this stage. Don't forget that Overload reaction also helps in depleting Geo shield so if you don't have any Geo DPS, try the Overload team.
From the start, it will has a Geo shield which will increase RES against all elements including Physical by 70% so you want to remove that shield as fast as you can. The shield is weakest against Blunt Attacks (Claymore attacks, Plunging attacks, and most Geo DMG). And as mentioned before, Overload reactions also work to deplete the shield's HP.
If the shield is destroyed, the Legatus Golem will become paralyzed for ~12 seconds before regaining its shield. While paralyzed, its RES to all DMG decreases by 80%.
Another method to destroy that shield fast is when the Golem summon a resonator and charges. Destroy that resonator and it will also delete a chunk of the Golem's shield. If the resonator is not destroyed by the time the Golem stopped charging, it will explode to deal damage. Other than this, most of the Golem's attacks are pretty boring so I believe you won't have much trouble with it except with the ridiculous increased RES when the shield is up.
Act 7 - 8 | Veteran Arithmetic Enhancer Mek
In Act 7, get your team ready for Act 8. It is pretty similar to Act 6 because both bosses are weak against Geo so if you don't have a Geo character now, try to get a Companion event until you get the best DPS you can get for Act 8. Aside from the Companion event, you can also try for Mystery Caches event to get some of your previous characters (with 0 Vigor) back.
Since the Arithmetic Enhancer Mek in Act 8 also has a Geo shield, you can try to focus on other Crystallize reactions (Geo x Pyro) so you can trigger more stage buff to help decrease its shield and HP. For the battle in Act 7, it's normal combat battle and there's no special mechanic so just choose any Battle you deem is best for your current roster.
1 | Select Companion event to get the best DPS you can get for Act 8 (preferably Geo). |
2 | Upgrade other reactions so you can gain more stage buffs that will help defeating the boss. |
3 | Save the Main DPS and Support/Sub-DPS at least 1 Vigor for the boss battle in Act 8. |
Right from the start, the Meka has a Geo shield that grants it a 200% increase to all RES while active and protects it from being paralyzed caused by Pneuma attacks. The shield is weakest against Blunt Attacks (Claymore attacks, Plunging attacks, and most Geo DMG). When destroyed, the shield will be regenerated after some time.
This enemy will have a Gravity Reduction Field around it while Arkhe is available, which greatly boosts the jumping height of characters within.
The worst attack it has is Gravity Ripple (not its official name) where it periodically sends out a shockwave that expands outwards and can be jumped over, dealing Geo DMG on hit. This attack cannot be dodged using sprint or i-frames. For this one, jumping is really recommended unless you have a sturdy shield because it can deal some big damage.
Once its Geo shield only has a few percent left (or completely gone), use all the Elemental Burst you have so the boss will immediately take damage when its shield is gone. For other attacks, I believe you can dodge it just fine. Focus on removing that Geo shield, and once it's gone, brute force it as fast as possible before it creates another shield.
Act 9 - 10 | Algorithm of Semi-Intrasient Matrix of Overseer Network
In Act 9, focus on creating the best team for Act 10. This is because the boss in the last stage - ASIMON - can turn invisible and the best character to face this boss is Electro (even better if you have Dendro but there's only Kinich in this season). If you don't have an Electro DPS, try using Companion Event to get them (if you have any Electro leftover in the Alternate Cast)
Essentially, you would want a Electro DPS + Support + Hydro + Any.
Once you create a team for Act 10, use the remaining character to form a team in Act 9. If you don't have a great synergy among the remaining characters, try using the Companion event for a chance of getting a better character. If you have enough characters already, then use the remaining Fantasia Flowers for buffs.
For Act 9, remember that you need to defeat the Bounty opponent, and NOT target all enemies! If you defeat the mobs and not the Bounty opponent, you would get nothing except wasting your time so look at the Opposing Lineup first and remember who the Bounty opponent is. During the battle, the Bounty opponent will be marked with a small AoE circle on the ground.
1 | Create the team for Act 10 beforehand. Then, use the leftover characters for Act 9. |
2 | If you don't have the right DPS for Act 9, use the Companion event to try and get a better character. |
3 | Once you have the right Main DPS (and team) for both Act 9 and 10, use the remaining Fantasia Flowers on Blessing event to upgrade reactions that you want to focus on in Act 10 (if the said reaction is not at Level 4 yet). |
For the last battle in Act 10, you're facing ASIMON who's a coward and often turn invisible. When invisible, the boss is almost impossible to spot because even the outline can't be seen. The methods to paralyze it and cancel its invisibility are still the same as when you fight it in Abyss:
(1) Use Catalyze reaction on the cores (hidden main body).
(2) Destroy and use Electro attack on the components.
There's only one Dendro character in this season of Imaginarium Theater and it's Kinich. If you don't have Kinich, then you can only depend on the Electro DPS to destroy the component and use Electro on the core.
Side Note: I did try bringing Kinich to the last Act (as you can see in the video) and he can't aim his hook at the invisible ASIMON unless it's already stuck to the boss before it turns invisible. Instead, it will aim the hook at the components on the field.
If you want to use Kinich, the best method here would be:
(1) Right before the boss turns invisible, use Electro off-field applicator like Beidou / Fischl / Yae Miko
(2) Get close to the invisible core and use Kinich's Burst
(3) Off-field Electro will hit the core + Ajaw will hit the core = Catalyze, thus getting the boss out from the invisibility state.
If you don't bring Kinich, then the only hope left is the Electro character. Focus on one component at a time so once it's destroyed, the boss will immediately take back all the components and leave a few left so you can use Electro on that one to cancel its invisibility.
If you still want to search for the main core, there is another option. It will always try to teleport in front of where it is facing. So if you're fighting it from the front of it > It turns invisible > It will be most likely behind you. Elemental Sight does not work in searching for the core.
