Monster Hunter Wilds Essential Items to Bring At All Times

Essential Items to Bring At All Times

In Monster Hunter Wilds, bringing the right items on every hunt can significantly enhance your gameplay. Certain essential items are highly recommended to keep in your Item Pouch at all times. This guide lists all the must-have items you should always bring.

Items You Need to Bring Every Time

With so many items in Monster Hunter Wilds, organizing your inventory and deciding what to bring on a hunt can be overwhelming. However, certain essential items are mandatory for every hunt, including healing items, buffs, trap tools, and other supportive gear.

Healing Items

  • Potion
  • Mega Potion
  • Max Potion
  • Honey
  • Lifepowder

These items are especially crucial in the early to mid-game since you'll still be using starter armor with low defense. Always prioritize drinking Mega Potions first and save Potions to combine with Honey for crafting more Mega Potions. Additionally, Lifepowder is a must-have when playing co-op, as it allows you to heal teammates in critical moments.

Cleansing Items

  • Nulberry
  • Antidote / Herbal Medicine

Nulberry is a versatile cleansing item that you should always have in your inventory. It cures various blights, including Fire, Water, Ice, and Dragon Blight, making it essential for different hunts. Likewise, Antidote is a must-have in case you get poisoned. Nothing is more frustrating than being unable to cure poison while trying to survive an intense monster fight.

Trap Items

  • Shock Trap
  • Pitfall Trap
  • Tranq Bomb

Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps are must-have items in your Item Pouch at all times. Capturing monsters often provides better rewards than slaying them, making traps essential for efficient hunting. Of course, when capturing monsters, you'll also need Tranq Bombs to put them to sleep while they’re trapped.

Buff Items

  • Demondrug / Mega Demondrug
  • Armorskin / Mega Armorskin
  • Demon Powder
  • Hardshell Powder
  • Might Seed
  • Powercharm
  • Armorcharm

Buff items like Demondrug, Armorskin, Demon Powder, Hardshell Powder, and Might Seed are crucial for boosting your attack and defense. These buffs stack, so using them together maximizes your combat effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Powercharm and Armorcharm are passive buff items that should always be in your pouch. Simply carrying them provides a significant attack and defense boost. You can obtain these charms after completing the “Secure Wounded Hollow” and “As Gatekeeper” side quests.

Pods

  • Flash Pod
  • Dung Pod

Flash Pod and Dung Pod are essential items that should always be in your pouch, as they provide both offensive and defensive advantages.

Register Item Loadouts

Now that you know which items to bring, it's best to save your item loadout as a preset. Manually setting up your inventory after every hunt can be time-consuming, so registering a loadout ensures efficiency. This also keeps track of items not included in the preset, making inventory management smoother.

  1. Go to your camp.
  2. Select "Transfer Items" and go to the Item Pouch.
  3. Add the selected items you want to bring into the pouch.
  4. Press L3 (Left Analog Stick).
  5. Press Triangle to open the sub-menu, then select "Register Loadout."
  6. Rename the loadout to something easy to manage.

Once saved, you can quickly select your preset at camp to automatically refill your items. You can create up to 80 item presets for different situations.

For example, Elder Dragons cannot be captured, so there's no need to bring traps when hunting them. Simply save a new loadout without traps and rename it to "Elder Hunt" or any preferred name.
