Miguel

Best build, skills, and guide for Miguel in Sword of Convallaria (SoC).

Notes

Miguel gets a pretty bad rap, and Iโ€™m not going to say heโ€™s the best character ever, but I think that heโ€™s better than people think he is, as long as you use him within his niche, which is what my suggested build will attempt to do. Miguel should be utilized as a debuffer/support character, even though his grizzled appearance would suggest he should be a DPS or something.

His basic attack, Fire Bomb, can be targeted on empty tiles to light them on fire (as long as the terrain is flammable), which can be used strategically to deny enemies movement (since Scorch tiles restrict movement), while doing chip damage to any non-piercing damage resistant foe. And since itโ€™s a basic attack, it costs no NRG. Just bear in mind that it counts as AoE damage, so any weapon effect that procs with single-target attacks wonโ€™t work with it.

I normally donโ€™t go for [Strike Back] reaction skills, but when Miguel does his, it inflicts 2 [Level 2 Attribute Debuffs] on the enemy, which stacks with Meteor Line, resulting in 4 debuffs with one counter!

His Mourner skill is a handy way to bathe an area in fireโ€”just a larger version of his basic attack. Use it to control where the enemy is able to go, or to force them to walk through at least three Scorch tiles to get to your units.

Bounty Hunting is a no-cost support skill that marks a target and refunds 2 NRG to whichever of your units kills the target, and gives them two buffs as well. Canโ€™t really go wrong with extra NRG!

Lastly, his Brutal Kick (aka โ€œThis is Sparta!โ€) is a handy knockback skill that also inflicts [โ–ผMove II] on the target. With something like Meteor Line or Longbow of Martyrs, you can inflict additional debuffs. I would suggest the Disaster Bottle and Judgment tarot, for even more debuffs and buff removal. When rolling stats, aim for P.ATK.
