Lycaon in Zenless Zone Zero is an S rank Agent who deals Ice anomaly and striking damage. He specializes in dealing massive daze to the enemy with his lightning fast kicks, giving your team excellent stunning potential.
Below, you will find the best Stun DPS builds for Lycaon as of the ZZZ 1.0 release. Rather you are a F2P player or a spender, this guide is for you! *Note that these builds assume base talent level.
Overview
Available on the standard banner, Lycaon, a stylish wolf with cold as ice kicks and is a member of Victoria Housekeeping, is an agent that relies on moderately fast attacks that deal heavy daze and ice damage to stun his opponents. Lycaon is able to charge his basic attack whenever he chooses, leading to increased daze damage. This, alone with his core passives and ultimate ability, make him the best single target daze agent in the game at the moment.
Due to Lycaon's high impact stat and daze multipliers from his attacks, he should be built as a Stun DPS. A breaker's main goal is to cause stun onto enemies to allow for chain attacks, or for your main DPS to pack on the punishment while the enemy is CC'd. Now then, let us move on to the best W-Engines, Disc Drives, Stats, Skills, Bangboo, and Teams for Lycaon!
W-Engines
S - The Restrained
⭐ Impact
- When an attack hits an enemy, DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks increase by 6/7.5/9/10.5/12% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. This effect can trigger at most once during each skill. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
- Lycaon's main W-Engine, works perfectly with his kit, especially if you manage to do his charged basic attacks.
S - Hellfire Gears
⭐ Impact
- When off-field, the equipper's Energy Regen increases by 0.6/0.75/0.9/1.5/1.2 per second.
- When using an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Impact is increased by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for 10s, stacking up to 2 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
- Good alternative to The Restrained, still upping Lycaon's Impact by a lot.
A - Steam Oven
⭐ Energy Regen
- For every 10 Energy accumulated, the equipper's Impact is increased by 2/2.3/2.6/2.9/3.2%, stacking up to 8 times. After Energy is consumed, this bonus remains for 8 more seconds. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
- Lycaon has the unique ability to store a lot of Energy due to his basic attacks being so good at applying daze, so that when he has maximum energy, unleash it all with your EX Special, which will then activate this buff to further increase his energy
Disc Drives + Stats
Option 1 - "Frost Fang"
4 Piece Shockstar Disco
(2) Increases Impact by 6%.
(4) Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters, inflict 20% more Daze upon the main target.
2 Piece Polar Metal
(2) Ice Damage Increased by 10%
Main stats: IV. CRIT Rate% or CRIT DMG | V. Ice DMG | VI. Impact%
Sub stats in order of priority:
1. CRIT Rate% or CRIT DMG | 2. PEN if you have any Pen Ratio | 3. ATK% | 4. Attribute Mastery
This build allows Lycaon to increase Stun as quickly and efficiently as possible. As Lycaon already has some of the best ability to apply stun in the game, this is the build you want to go if you want Lycaon to be even more of an insane stun agent by increasing the damage from his ice attacks.
Option 2 - "Apex Predator"
4 Piece Shockstar Disco
(2) Increases Impact by 6%.
(4) Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters, inflict 20% more Daze upon the main target.
2 Piece Swing Jazz
(2) Energy Regen increases by 20%
Main stats: IV. CRIT Rate% or CRIT DMG | V. Ice DMG | VI. Impact%
Sub stats in order of priority:
1. CRIT Rate% or CRIT DMG | 2. PEN if you have any Pen Ratio | 3. ATK% | 4. Attribute Mastery
This build allows Lycaon to use his EX special ability more, which will further increase his daze capabilities, thanks to the energy recharge. You're giving up 10% ice damage, but the extra energy recharge may be the different between stunning a boss or not. His basic attacks already deal a huge amount of stun due to the charging, and to be able to rotate his EX Special attacks as well will possibly be a tradeoff for Ice damage you're willing to take.
Skill Priority
ALWAYS PRIOIRITZE CORE SKILL FIRST!!!
1. This is Lycaon's main source of daze, and for a basic attack, meaning no resource use, makes it incredible, and is also what makes Lycaon one of the best agents in the game. Thanks to his charge, this basic attack is a must level up.
2. Similar to his basic, his special can also be charged, and will act as his main source of daze and damage following his basic attack.
3. As Lycaon is an up close fighter, you will be dodging a lot, but the damage and daze increase is not that considerable compared to his basic and special.
4. Upgrading this increases the damage and daze of the skill, although you won't be using Lycaon's ultimate nearly as much as the prior 3.
5. While this gives some damage and daze, it's not worth to upgrade this over the others if you had to choose, as the return on investment on his basic and special is unmatched.
Bangboo
S - Sharkboo
Key Trait - When there are 2 or more Ice Attribute characters in your squad: Bangboo Chain Attack inflicts 100% more Anomaly Buildup.
Freeze is one of the best anomaly effects as it completely CC's enemies in their tracks, making it not only easier to deal damage, but apply daze with Lycaon in order to stun them, furthering the CC even more.
S - Butler
Key Trait - Increases Energy Regen Rate of Victoria Housekeeping Co. Agents by extra 20% if you have at least 2 Victoria Housekeeping Agents in the party.
As Lycaon is a member of Victoria Housekeeping Co, Butler gives him and the team an additional 20% Energy Regen if you have at least one other Victoria Housekeeping agent with him. This is extremely helpful, as his best DPS partner is Ellen, who is also part of Victoria Housekeeping, allowing you to unlock this bonus.
A - Penguinboo
Key Trait - When there are 2 or more Ice Attribute characters in your squad: Bangboo Chain Attack inflicts 60% more Anomaly Buildup.
A weaker version of Sharkboo, but still functions greatly as a way to help your team apply Freeze more
Optimal Team Comp
This team consisting of Lycaon, Ellen Joe, and Soukaku gives you perfect ice synergy between all involved by checking off all the requirements in their Core Skill Additional Ability. For Lycaon, when Lycaon hits a Stunned enemy, the target's Stun DMG Multiplier increases by 35%, note this is not stackable. This elevates Lycaon as the best stun unit in the game as of release.
Overall Thoughts
In my opinion, Lycaon is the best stun unit in the game, with his entire kit being focused on increasing the amount of daze damage he is able to deal, while also being relatively agile with his movements. He is also tanky compared to most units, with some of the highest base HP in the game thus far.
I fully believe that if you're building an ice team, Lycaon is invaluable to any comp, and highly recommend rolling or re-rolling for him, or to wait until he's on his own featured banner, but getting a good stun unit early on will help you have an easier time, so if you don't want to wait, I would simply re-roll.
