+ High base crit rate (20%), which is especially useful in PVP
+ Eleaneer has an excellent utility kit, with Piercing Magic Bow providing buff removal and B-Rank Idol providing silence

Eleaneer for PVE
PMB.Eleaneer is a costume that was available at launch. Naturally with all gacha games, powercreep means that launch costumes will generally be overtaken in power as time goes on. Having said this, BrownDust2 devs have handled powercreep very well to date: even though there are now other dark attackers who are stronger than Eleaneer, she still holds up very well after all this time.
Eleaneer has 352 base ATK, which is considered normal (same as many other attackers). At +5 full potential, PMB.Eleaneer hits for 3x195%. Right now, any costume that can deal around 600% AOE damage is considered very good, and any costume that can deal well above 600% is considered outstanding.
Eleaneer's small 3-tile AOE is a significant drawback for use in PVE. In particular, if the mid column is empty, she can only hit 1 enemy at a time.
Let's look at the competition in terms of damage from other dark attackers.
When it comes to AOE damage, Eclipse is the best competitor. Eclipse's full potential damage on her Dimension Witch costume (3x200%) and her Nightmare Bunny costume (3x220%) are comparable to PMB.Eleaneer (3x195%). Although the damage multiplier on PMB.Eleaneer is slightly lower than Eclipse's costumes, Eleaneer also has a better base ATK stat (352) than Eclipse's base M.ATK (302), so they can be considered roughly on par in terms of damage. But given that Eclipse has much better AOE with better options on different AOE patterns, Eclipse is much better suited for dealing with mobs of light-type enemies.
When it comes to single target damage, the recently released Deal Snatcher Luvencia is the undisputed queen. Even at Luvencia's lowest power (her power reduces based on the number of targets hit), a +5 full potential Luvencia deals 1000% damage to the main target (plus chain damage from 8 hits), which blows Eleaneer out of the water. Luvencia can also deal moderate damage to mobs, depending on how many enemies are hit.
Therefore, even though Eleaneer is a very solid dark attacker, she can no longer be considered "the best" for PVE. She works ok in all PVE content, but for high scoring on fiend bosses and guild raids, in most cases she will not be the best choice.
Eleaneer does have a few niches in PVE that are worth mentioning though.
First of all, both of Eleaneer's costumes hit a horizontal AOE at the very front. If you are against a light fiend or guild boss with horizontal weak points in the very front, then Eleaneer has the best skills to take advantage of those weak points.
Secondly, Eleaneer is a has a great "toolkit" skill set. Piercing Magic Bow provides buff removal and B-Rank Idol provides silence. Having both in a single character can be useful in certain battles. This also makes her a decent pick in Tower of Salvation, as she is versatile enough to deal with many different kinds of enemies (though she still needs to be paired with other strong AOE attackers).
Eleaneer for PVP
PVP is where PMB.Eleaneer truly shines.
Anyone who has played PVP in the higher ranks for a while will know that Comeback Idol Granhildr is by far the dominant defense opener. Granhildr starts the game with pre-emptive taunt and an enormous 350% HP energy guard. She also happens to have the highest base HP in the game (easily 20-30k HP when geared properly). This makes her one of the most oppressive PVP units in the game. If an attacking team doesn't have a strategy to properly deal with her, they can waste all of their first turn attacks against Granhildr without even leaving a scratch on the enemy team.
With the exception of defensive "turtle" openers, the main ways to deal with Granhildr are either to use brute force (i.e. deal enough damage to wipe out Granhildr and her enormous energy guard) or to use buff removal (i.e. remove her taunt and energy guard).
PMB.Eleaneer is great because she has both brute force and buff removal, for only 2 SP (from +3 costume level onwards).
There are only 2 buff removing costumes in the game that cost 2 SP: Pool Party Schera (a limited costume) and PMB.Eleaneer. Since PP.Schera is limited, this makes PMB.Eleaneer the only non-limited buff remover that costs 2 SP. Other buff removing costumes (including other Schera costumes and WB.Yuri) cost 3 SP. Since attacking teams only start with 5 SP, the reduced SP cost makes a huge difference for an attacking team. It means that you have 3 SP to deal with the rest of the enemy team, rather than only 2.
As the only 2 SP buff removers, PMB.Eleaneer and PP.Schera are both top tier PVP picks. A quick comparison of the two:
- When facing Granhildr, PMB.Eleaneer has the edge over Schera, because Eleaneer is dark type against Granhildr's light type. Especially when Eleaneer is paired with H.Lathel, she has a good chance of wiping out Granhildr entirely, whereas Schera will usually only remove Granhildr's buffs, but usually still leave Granhildr alive.
- After the first turn, Eleaneer has very good follow up with B-Rank Idol, which deals strong silencing damage. Silence can be brutal and game-winning in PVP.
- On the other hand, unlike Schera, Eleaneer cannot remove buffs on Turn 3 (your second turn, whilst PMB is in cooldown). This leaves your team exposed to strong buffs on Turn 3 like Android Queen Lecliss's counterattack.
- Eleaneer also has an empty turn on Turn 7 (your fourth turn, whilst PMB and B-Rank Idol are both in cooldown). This is not a problem for Schera who can cycle continuously between costumes.
- One more thing to note. In the current meta, some defending teams have replaced Granhildr with Beach Morphea. Eleaneer is also very good against Morphea, because Morphea's two summoned units are always created in the very front. This is perfect for Eleaneer's horizontal AOE, as she is guaranteed multiple targets to hit.
Conclusion
Despite being a costume that has been around since launch, PMB.Eleaneer remains useful in PVE and top tier in PVP.
If you are trying to climb the PVP ladder and are getting stuck against strong Granhildrs, PMB.Eleaneer will be a strong addition to your team... as long as you are prepared to make the investment to at least +3. She has significantly less utility in PVP at +0 to +2.
