Dev Note #12

Greetings, Regulars.

This is <Tower of God: New World> PD, Eonsan Jeong.

We have already passed halfway through 2024 and entered July. The anticipation of our upcoming 1st anniversary feels even more palpable with the arrival of our 12th official developer note. The opening of pre-registration and the release of promotional videos have garnered significant interest from many Regulars, while on the other hand, concerns have been expressed due to disappointments experienced during the past operational period.

Reflecting on the past year of service, we aim to use this 1st anniversary update as a turning point to earn your trust by demonstrating more proactive communication and reliable operations. With that commitment, let us now discuss the details of the major updates planned for July.

* The screenshots in this Dev Note were taken in a test environment, and may be subject to change. Due to the nature of the test environment, all images are displayed in Korean. We ask for your understanding.

● Expansion of Supply of Revolution Resources

As a part of the response to our Regulars’ request to provide more Revolution resources (submitted through the Suggestion Board in June), we are going to start by expanding the supply of Revolution resources based on the progress of the Regular’s Adventure Stage in the 7/3 update.

We initially considered offering rewards for clearing early Stages or as Achievement Rewards. However, since these more resemble one-time rewards, we determined that this approach does not correlate to our Regulars’ request to increase the supply of Revolution resources continuously over time. Therefore, we have decided to enhance the Weekly and Monthly Mission Rewards for every 10 Floors that the Regulars climb.

Previously, for clearing Stage 16-20:

- In the Weekly Missions, 50 Revolution Fragments, 500 Shining Revolution Fragments, and 15 Revolution Ores were awarded

- In the Monthly Missions, 300 Revolution Fragments, 3,000 Shining Revolution Fragments, and 50 Revolution Ores were awarded.

With the new rewards system, clearing every 10 Floors from Floor 30 to Floor 60, such as Floors 40-50 or 50-60, the quantity of rewards you earn in the next Weekly and Monthly Missions will be increased.

Upon clearing Stage 70-60, the following adjustments will be implemented: (Please note that final balance values are subject to change, and confirm details through the update notices.)

- In the Weekly Missions, 100 Revolution Fragments, 1,200 Shining Revolution Fragments, and 30 Revolution Ores will be awarded.

- In the Monthly Missions, 550 Revolution Fragments, 7,000 Shining Revolution Fragments, and 100 Revolution Ores will be awarded.

This algorithm will be applied similarly upon clearing future Adventure Chapters. (However, the maximum amount of Revolution currency may be set based on specific stages.)

This change is expected to provide additional perks based on Regulars’ Adventure progress and increase the supply of Revolution resources continuously over time.

Please be advised that if Adventure Floors are expanded along with a future update, the increased rewards will also be reflected in the Weekly Missions of the following week and the Monthly Missions of the following month (with respect to the newly expanded Adventure Floors). This ensures that there will be no disadvantages for those who receive rewards prior to the change of rewards.

In addition, Revolution resources will be simultaneously supplemented through campaign events as well as various Exchange Shops.

● For SSR grade Teammates, the Revolution Tiers will be expanded from Tiers 4 to 6.

We initially opened Revolution Tiers up to Tier 3 and then conducted the 2nd expansion for SSR+ grade characters to Tier 6. We plan to expand additional Revolution Tiers for SSR grade Teammates up to Tier 6 on July 17th. Extensive efforts and preparations were made on the development side as multiple Teammates will be enhanced simultaneously this time.

In addition to strengthening existing key characters, we hope you can also experience the excitement of discovering new dark horses. We expect it to be a great opportunity for Teammates who have undergone numerous Limit Breaks but are no longer played frequently. (We look forward to seeing these changes being implemented to Teammates such as Hatz who once played a pivotal role in taking on Adventures, Wangnan Ja who was the main character of the season 2 Tower of God animation, and the first Teammate Ha Yuri who accompanies the Tutorial.)

Since a large portion of Revolution resources is anticipated to be consumed around this time, we have prepared the Shining Revolution Fragment Consumption Race Event as well as additional Check-in event (Part 2) rewards.

● Teammate Introduction

During our live broadcast held in April, we covered a wide range of characters that are slated for release. We were delighted to receive lots of feedback from our Regulars expressing their excitement. We carefully review the feedback our Regulars send us each time a new character is released. We are aware of concerns regarding the release of different concept characters for the same character, even though many original Webstoon Teammates have yet to be revealed.

We are currently preparing to release a wide variety of characters to address this concern. In addition, preparations are currently underway to introduce some brand new Teammates in the 1st-anniversary official broadcast.

Today, we would like to first talk about the characters scheduled for release on July 3rd and July 17th.

● [Mad Dog] Varagarv

Varagarv was introduced during the live broadcast held in April, which garnered a lot of interest from numerous Regulars.

He is known as the strongest among the E-rank Regulars and is one of the Mad Dogs created by the FUG Slayer Baylord Yama. He was born through a process called Blood Fusion where powerful blood from two or more bloodlines is injected into a person to grant them extraordinary power. He is incredibly obsessed with the title of "the strongest" and views Viole as a rival that he must overcome.

[Mad Dog] Varagarv is a tank with an SSR grade and classified as a Purple Element. He is a Physical type melee as well as a Defensive Tank. Once positioned in the front line, he provides reliable tanking abilities with his Black Chain skill and Exclusive Equipment's invincibility effect. Additionally, he has a skill that knocks enemy Tanks back to the edge of the battlefield and isolates them. With his Special Move, he can block the HP recovery of multiple enemies and inflict Bleeding, allowing him to dominate the front lines and wreak havoc on his enemies.

● [Healing Flame] Yihwa Yeon

Yihwa Yeon, one of the most popular Teammates in Tower of God and always ranking high in popularity polls, will make her appearance as an SSR+ grade healer.

(It will be announced soon, but it seems that in the recent June 1st-anniversary teaser survey, the favorite Teammate category was also won by Yihwa Yeon.)

Our concept imagines Yihwa Yeon as an adult, embodying the healing power of the Yeon family’s flames while skillfully controlling fire to fulfill a versatile role. We hope you enjoy the "Heart-Hunting Vacation" story that we put a lot of effort into creating for the 1st anniversary vacation season, along with this new setting.

Healing Flame Yihwa Yeon (hereafter referred to as Healing Flame Yeon) is designed as a pure supporter specialized in healing and protecting allies. She is a Magic type with Green Element and long-range characteristics. Healing Flame Yeon is recommended to be placed in the back row, where she can push enemies into corners while supporting and reviving the front line, allowing you to enjoy the satisfaction of overpowering enemies with her abilities.

Her stackable passive skill "Flame of Life" allows for an immediate massive HP recovery for allies when their HP drops below a certain threshold. This will give an opportunity for a dramatic comeback.

Additionally, when Healing Flame Yeon is first intercepted and killed, she draws aggro with invincibility, heals all allies, and revives to provide powerful support from the back row once again. This is expected to add excitement to the experience of observing the battlefield even more.

  • ● [Shinsu of the Heart] Endorsi

Endorsi, one of the most popular Teammates and the top idol in the Webtoon has been prepared as another main character in the "Heart Hunting Vacation" story for the 1st anniversary vacation season. This concept also envisions Endorsi as an adult.

She primarily uses the Shinsu of the Heart, which she acquired in the Secret Floor, a rare Element in the Tower that always catches her opponents off guard. Heart Shinsoo Endorsi is a Magic type with green Element and CC type Tank characteristics, designed as an aggro tank similar to a frontline Tank.

In the early stages, she fulfills the role of a sub-tank, holding the front line for allies. As the battle progresses, through Special Move, she Fascinates enemy units along her path, collapsing their formation. The more enemies Fascinated around her, the higher her Physical and Magic Resistance increases, enhancing her durability.

Also, with the passive ability Jewel Heart, she possesses innate healing capabilities that immediately restore her HP when it drops low. We expect her to become a frontline Tank that can withstand even longer in Adventures.

  • ● 1st Anniversary Special Background

To celebrate the 1st anniversary and capture the spirit of the 2024 vacation campaign, we are giving all players a special Background during the anniversary event period. This Background will be automatically added as the default setting upon logging in, with no special missions required. Along with the BGM, we hope our Regulars will fully enjoy the atmosphere of a cool night by the sea during the hot summer.

  • ● 1st Anniversary Entertainment
  •

As announced on the July Event Calendar, we have prepared various rewards to celebrate our 1st anniversary. The anniversary event will run for approximately one month from July 17th to August 13th, divided into Part 1 (July 17th to July 30th) and Part 2 (July 31st to August 13th), featuring separate campaign events.

First, we have the 1st Anniversary SSR+ Nonstop Limit Break Summon Event on the line-up as a joint event. The event offers you an opportunity to select any one of the SSR+ grade Teammates to focus on developing until August 13th (except for collaboration Teammates, 1st-anniversary Teammate: [Healing Flame] Yihwa Yeon, and the most recently released Teammate, Kaiser). This event is designed with the hope that you'll enjoy continuous excitement in Summoning throughout the 1st anniversary period, with a total of 900 Summon Tickets available through Part 1 1st Anniversary Check-in and Daily Festival events.

In the 1st Anniversary Nonstop SSR+ Limit Break Summon Event, please note that once you select your desired SSR+ Teammate, you cannot change it. Therefore, we ask you to choose the Teammate you wish to Limit Break carefully.

If you Limit Break the designated SSR+ Teammate to the max, it will be converted into Revolution currencies and Rare Crystal.

Next, we will explain how to obtain the new SSR+ event Teammates released during the 1st anniversary campaign period. Primarily, for the main Teammate of Part 1, SSR+ [Healing Flame] Yihwa Yeon, you can immediately acquire the basic character as a pre-registration reward upon logging in. Since it is our 1st anniversary, we are preparing to allow Regulars to obtain it in a more pleasant manner!

Rumor has it that Xia Xia will carry out 1st anniversary Special Requests while she is on her business trip.

In the 1st Anniversary Daily Festival, we plan to allocate SSR+ Nonstop Summon Tickets, Ignition Weapon Set Chests, Soul Crystal, Revolution Currencies, and Instruction Manuals that have seen increased demand due to the node expansions for the Origin Orb, as previously mentioned.

Additionally, we plan to offer a Special Limit Break Stone Chest that guarantees Limit Breaking one SSR Teammate in possession to the max as a final reward (except for collaboration Teammates, 1st-anniversary Teammate: [Shinsu of the Heart] Endorsi, and to be released Teammate: Mad Dog Varagarv). This Chest can only be used during the 1st anniversary period, so make sure to use it after receiving it to instantly Limit Break an underdeveloped SSR Teammate to the highest Tier.

During this event, you can also obtain a special 1st-anniversary Title through the 1st Anniversary Daily Festival event along with a Title Background as a login reward, making it one of the must-not-miss events of the anniversary period.

You can also obtain a limited-edition Rapport item '1st Anniversary Celebration Cake' that all Teammates will favor (+200 Rapport).

Now, we will move on to the 1st Anniversary Big Suspendium Festival Event that has also been scheduled to take place during the 1st anniversary period.

During the 1st anniversary event period, if you obtain special anniversary points allocated to Loot and Daily Mission completion rewards. you can acquire growth materials, Revolution currency, Rare Whetstones, SSR-grade Teammates, and more based on the stage. In addition, by accumulating event mission points obtainable between stages, players can combine them with their existing Suspendium to obtain a generous amount of the special 1st anniversary Suspendium, which can be used to purchase Suspendium-related items throughout the anniversary period.

The special check-in event, opening the prologue for the Part 2 campaign period, is designed to allocate a larger amount of Revolution currency. This will allow Regulars to acquire additional Revolution resources to supplement shortages.

Part 2 also features various attractions, including the introduction of new events, such as the mini-game "Moabam" ensuring diverse entertainment options are included.

In particular, "Moabam" has garnered internal feedback suggesting once started, it's hard to stop, potentially serving as another form of healing for Regulars fatigued by intense battles.

In addition, there are various attractions prepared throughout, so we ask for your interest in the 1st-anniversary campaign events. Additional details will be provided through update announcements.

  • ● 1st Anniversary Special Campaign ‘Heart Hunting Vacation’

We would like to briefly introduce the campaign story that has been ambitiously prepared in celebration of our 1st anniversary as well as the summon vacation season.

Yihwa Yeon and Endorsi from the future play with the Warp Ball in a future lighthouse, which can transport them both into the past of the Wangnan Ja. They accidentally time warps to the past.

Stealing hearts and having hearts stolen! Join the Tangsuyuk team and the twin princess of the Lo Po Bia Family struggling on the pink beach, and meet the emperor of the beach! Take Heart! Fake Hurt!

Please look forward to touching stories unfolding at the Heart Hunting Beach.

  • ● Ha Jinsung’s Fug Recruitment Event (Invite a Friend Event)

During the 1st anniversary period, we will prepare an Invite-a-Friend event in hopes of celebrating our anniversary with as many Regulars as we can. To add a bit of fun, we have designed it around the concept of teacher and student. As of July 17th, those who clear a specific Adventure Stage (currently set to Stage 7-40) or higher are eligible to become a teacher and can invite students. Those who have cleared the lower stage than 7-40 can become students and are eligible to be invited by Teachers.

          < Teacher Screen>

           <Student Screen>

   <Exchange Shop Screen>

Teachers can generate student invitation codes, and students can enter these codes to designate their teacher.

To ensure that teachers do not experience excessive stress while recruiting students, the maximum number of students they can have is limited to three.

Once designated, students will perform simple daily missions for a few days. Each mission completed earns them "Learning Points," while teachers earn "Teaching Points" equivalent to the number of Learning Points their students obtain. Both "Learning Points" and "Teaching Points" can be exchanged for additional rewards at the Exchange Shop.

When students achieve a specified points milestone with their learning points, they receive final rewards. Upon a teacher reaching this milestone, teachers earn "Graduation Points" and can receive rewards such as a relevant Title, exclusive Background, and Black Market Tickets based on the graduation stage.

Once established, these Teacher and Student relationships can continue by adding each other as friends and thereafter participating in the same Alliance activities. We encourage you to use this opportunity to create new friendships and look forward to your active participation.

  • Champions Fight League System

As mentioned several times before and also in previous responses, a PVP mode where competitors face off with unadjusted specs, exactly as they are, will be introduced as a special 1st-anniversary event. It's named Champions Fight League Season 1,' and the ranking administration has prepared a special arena for this event.

< Champions Fight League Special Arena >

The intention behind the Champions Fight League is to design it as the ultimate tier PVP competition where players compete using all Teammates, Shinsu slots they have developed, and their Ignition Weapons, across the entire server.

First, since this is a battle amongst the strongest, let us explain the criteria for selecting participants. To ensure fairness across the entire server, the most equitable criterion identified through various simulations is the progression in Adventure Stages. Therefore, final participants will be selected based on their progress in Adventure Stages.

Participants in the competition total 1,150 Regulars, sorted based on their progression in Adventure Stages as of the event start date. In cases where players are at the same Stage, priority will be given to those who reached it first. After listing them, they will be placed into groups of 50, forming a total of 23 leagues. A rule has been added that recent inactive users cannot participate; specifically, individuals must have logged into the game at least once within 3 days prior to the start date.

As of the current preparation for the Dev Note, to qualify among the 1,150 participants, it appears one must have ascended to at least Floor 54 Stage 5 in the Adventure mode. The league matches are still some time away, so you should be on the higher Floor than this. Any minor adjustments will be announced closer to the final update.

Each participant will compose 5 decks of 5-member full parties (comprising a minimum of 25 participants) to minimize stress while also supporting an attacker's advantage through the adoption of an automatic battle system similar to the High-Ranker Arena. Detailed deck information of competing participants within the same league will not be disclosed in order to reduce the stress associated with entry bluffs shown in the High-Ranker Arena before. Instead, after the league progresses, we aim to provide enough information from the match review to deduce which Teammates participated.

Battles within each league consist of single-round matches, with 25 games played daily, completing 1:1 matchups against all league players within 2 days. This structure facilitates a Tier-up match every two days, where the top 10 advance and the bottom 10 are demoted, ensuring a dynamic competition.

                                                                    < League Representative Symbols>

Daily battle results are structured to allow for reviewing replay data, similar to the High-Ranker Arena, and entries can be changed daily for the next day's matches.

Every two days, league participants are reorganized, and promotions, demotions, and ranking changes will be available for review.

The event will run for a total of 14 days, with rewards distributed based on final tiers and rankings. We are preparing rewards in the name of the League winner: the final Grand Master. Rewards will be sent to all Regulars to highlight the winner's honor.

In addition to the 1,150 participants, Regulars who did not participate can make predictions through a poll once a day during the season. The vote involves not only win or loss predictions but also the opportunity to increase rewards based on the accuracy of their specific predictions.

We will do our best to complete the development for Champion Fight League for the remaining period until implementation so that we can add new excitement to the game.

  • ● Tips for Equipping Ignition Weapons
  •

Among the many questions, one frequently asked is about which Ignition Weapon is best suited for which character. To address this, in this update, we will add a new feature that recommends Ignition Weapons aligned with the intended design for each character when automatically equipping them.

Through a new feature [Automatic Equip > Equip set items first], we will guide you to the recommended Ignition Weapons by displaying the 'Popular' label on the UI. For Zahard, suitable Ignition Weapons would be 'Bergamot' or Sela based on the example screenshot.  However, please note that these are suggested based on the intended design and may not always be the absolute best combination. We encourage you to use this recommendation as a reference for its intended purpose.

  • ● Additional Stats Based on the Limit Break Tiers of the Archive

With the addition of Revolutions, we are enhancing the benefits related to Limit Break Tiers in the Archives and prioritizing revisions to rewards. For rewards of the Stages 16 and 21 in the Archives, we have allocated 2 points each to the Evasion and Accuracy stats per stage. This setup aims to provide assistance in later stages of adventures.

  •
  • World Boss Event
  •

  • Lastly, regarding the new World Boss event system announced on the 6/19 Event Calendar, the release schedule has been adjusted to August 28th after the 1st-anniversary event for further refinement. While we always strive to prioritize announced schedules, adjustments may occur for urgent issues or to improve overall quality. We appreciate your understanding and would like to provide additional information on the system currently in preparation.

  •

  • We named this World Boss Event "Giga Boss Battle," The World Boss event is being prepared as a server-wide battle. Regulars from each server will collaborate to achieve the short-term goal of cumulative damage missions. Detailed rankings based on cumulative damage contributions will be calculated per server, serving as the benchmark for final ranking reward distribution.

The Giga Boss Battle will feature a multi-round boss battle, unlike the single-round boss battles we've had so far.

In addition, server rankings will be determined based on cumulative damage per server, and final server ranking rewards will be distributed according to intra-server rankings.

In addition, server rankings will be determined based on cumulative damage per server, and final server ranking rewards will be distributed according to intra-server rankings.

Through this system, we hope that players can experience new excitement by cooperating with their rivals within the server.

There were many topics we wanted to discuss. We will provide further details through our upcoming 1st-anniversary broadcast, where we will also take time to address some questions you may have.

Please look forward to the 1st-anniversary broadcast, and we will soon share updates regarding the broadcast itself.

As we mentioned at the beginning, with this 1st-anniversary update, we aim to prepare a truly enjoyable game for everyone. I sincerely thank all of the Regulars who have been with us for the past year, and we ask for your continued interest and support.

Thank you.
