Best DC: Dark Legion characters in the current metagame, including upcoming ones.

DC: Dark Legion has been out for a few weeks since its global launch, and the meta has started to take shape. If you're playing this superhero game or thinking about starting, you need to know which are the best characters in DC Dark Legion worth your time and resources.

I've gathered information from various tier lists, and player experiences (including my own) to help you build the strongest team possible. This list of the best characters in DC: Dark Legion with notes about some powerful characters coming in future banners.

Strongest Characters in DC Dark Legion

1. Superman

Hero TypeMythic
RoleWarrior
SynergyJustice League, Superman Family, Metahuman
Skill Under a Yellow Sun - Superman soars into space, gaining 1 permanent stack of Solar energy before dealing physical damage equal to % of his attack to an enemy.

Solar Energy: Increase Attack by x%, stacking up to 3 times.
SkillHeat Vision - Superman shoots a heat laser, dealing Physical Damage equal to a % of his attack to enemy.
SkillMan of Steel - Superman's Def increases by x%. At the start of battles, Superman gains 1 stack of ATK up for each Superman family ally present.
SkillFreeze Breath - Superman inhales deeply before exhaling a freezing breath, dealing physical damage equal to % of ATK to an enemy and freezing them for 3s.

Superman stands at the top as the best physical damage dealer in the game. His damage scaling is unlike any other character - the longer fights go on, the more devastating he becomes, making him perfect for most of the content in the game.

His kit is extremely well-rounded. His skill 1 does solid damage, while his freeze ability can completely disable enemies for a few seconds. His heat ray (Skill 2) not only deals damage but also lowers enemy defense, setting them up to take even more damage from your entire team.

What really makes Superman exceptional is his multiple synergy options. When paired with other Justice League members like Batman, Wonder Woman, or Green Arrow, he gets additional attack bonuses that further increase his already impressive damage output and also his HP.

Superman is available on the first banner at the global launch, so many players already have him. If you're newer to the game, the banner is still live and you should definitely try to pull for it as he can carry your team through virtually all content in the game.

2. Sinestro/Joker

  • Sinestro is the best spiritual damage dealer in the game. His AOE ultimate ability can completely wipe out enemy teams when properly built. New players won't see Sinestro for a while on banners, but when he does appear, try to get as many copies as possible.
  • Joker specializes in dealing damage over time, making him less effective against enemies that die quickly but incredibly powerful in extended fights against multiple strong enemies. For new players at global launch, Joker will be available after Superman's banner ends (about 3 weeks after launch). Start saving resources for him if you can, as he brings incredible value to your team for longer fights like boss battles.

Note: Both characters may not be obtainable depending on your server.

3. Green Lantern

SynergyJustice League, Green Lantern Corps, Energy Wielder
Skill Heals allies within a circular area for a % of Hal Jordan's ATK. Excess healing is converted into a shield.
Skill Emerald Armory - Hal Jordan materializes a giant hammer with energy, dealing Spiritual damage equal to % of his ATK to an enemy and stunning them for 2s.
SkillLantern Shield - Hal Jordan creates an enemy field that lasts for 5s, healing allies within range for % of his ATK per second.
SkillGreen Lantern Corps - Increases healing taken up by all Green Lantern Corps champions by x% every 1s.

Green Lantern is the best healer in the game with no close competition, but he requires heavy investment to reach his full potential. At lower star levels, his healing output is good but not game-changing. It's only when you get him to higher stars and max out his kit that he truly becomes the healing powerhouse.

What makes him stand out beyond his healing is his powerful two-second stun ability that can completely disrupt enemy teams. This combination of healing and control makes him a strong character although you will need to invest a lot.

If you're willing to spend money on the game, he's definitely worth investing in, but most players will need to rely on other healers like Mera or Poison Ivy instead.

4. Harley Quinn

Hero TypeMythic
RoleWarrior
SynergyWeapon Master, Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad
SkillSelf-Actualization: Harley Quinn unleashes her full potential and enters a self-actualization state for 10s, dealing physical damage equal to 950% of her ATK to the target and all nearby enemies.
SkillManic Episode: Harley Quinn ferociously attacks with a hammer, dealing physical damage equal to x% of her ATK to an enemy.
SkillSpecial Physiology: Harley Quinn gains 50 energy for each enemy she defeats.
SkillEscalation: Harley Quinn gains HP equal to x% of DMG she deals. At start of the battle all Suicide Squad allies gain HP based on the DMG they deal.

Harley Quinn is the best early-game character for non-spending players. You'll get your first copy from the 7-day login reward making her easily accessible.

She deals great AOE damage, and what makes her special is her self-healing based on the damage she deals. If she gets a kill, she gains additional energy to use her ultimate sooner. This makes her incredibly versatile and useful in almost any team composition. Furthermore she has three synergy tags which make her quite viable in various teams.

5. Wonder Woman

SynergyJustice League, Justice League Dark, Metahuman
SkillBracelets of Submission - Wonder Woman leaps high and clashes her bracelets of submission together to generate a shockwave, dealing Physical DMG equal to x% of her ATK to enemies within a fan-shaped area and stunning them.
SkillAmazonian shield: Wonder Woman infuses her shield with divine power, granting divine shield to an ally that absorbs damage equal to % of Wonder Woman's Max HP.
SkillLasso of Truth: Wonder Woman throws her Lasso of Truth, dealing physical damage equal to x% of her ATK to an enemy inflicting stun on them.
SkillAmazon Goddess: When HP is below x%, Wonder Woman's def increases by y%.

Wonder Woman is the best accessible tank in the game. As a legendary character, she's much easier to get than some mythic heroes, making her a must-build for players who don't want to spend much money.

What makes her so valuable is her combination of shields and incapacitate abilities, which are some of the most powerful mechanics in the game. She can protect your team and disable enemy threats, working well in any game mode.

6. Poison Ivy

Hero TypeMythic

SynergyArkham's Most Wanted, Birds of Prey, Energy Wilder
SkillGrowing Pains: Poison Ivy unleashes green energy and summons countless vines, healing the target for x% of her ATK. Each vine she summons increases the healing effect by 20%, up to a maximum increase of y%.
SkillPoison Embrace: Poison Ivy summons a thorn ivy next to an enemy. It inherits % of Ivy's max HP and a % of her other attributes. Every second, the thorn ivy deals Physical damage equal to % of its ATK to enemies around it, with a base chance of x% to inflict 1 stack of Ivy Thorn for 15s.
SkillBloom of Life: Poison ivy summons a blooming Ivy next to her ally. It inherits a % of Poison Ivy's max HP and a % of her other attributes. Every few seconds, the Blooming Ivy heals allies around it by x% of its ATK and inflicts one stack of Ivy Bloom.
SkillDeath's Embrace: Poison Ivy unleashes Bewitching spores dealing physical damage to an enemy and inflicting Bewitch causing the target to slowly move towards her.

Poison Ivy functions as both a healer and damage dealer with enough investment. Her unique mechanic involves creating vines that draw enemy attention and cause them to waste their abilities.

She also has a charm ability that forces enemies to walk toward her for a few seconds, giving your team valuable control in fights. Furthermore, she is viable across various content making her extremely worth to invest in.

7. Mera

SynergyEnergy Wielder
SkillThe Gift of Sea: Mera summons a vortex, healing all allies within range over time.
SkillHealing waters: Mera heals an ally for x% of her ATK.
SkillWater of Life: For the first 20s of the battle, Mera's healing amount is increased.
SkillCrown of Atlantis: Mera's ATK increases by x%.

Mera is the best healer accessible to non-spending players. Only Green Lantern heals better, but he's locked behind a paywall that requires significant spending to access.

Her healing comes in a small AOE circle, which can be limiting, but if you position it correctly, she keeps your team alive through tough fights. The main drawback is her lack of tag synergies with popular team compositions, but her healing power makes up for it.

8. Dr. Fate

doctor fateStats
Hero TypeMythic
RoleGuardian
SynergyJustice League Dark, Energy Wielder
SkillProtection Charm: Doctor Fate casts a spell that grants a shield to allies within a circular area.
SkillMystic Shield: Doctor Fate casts a spell that grants a shield to selected ally.
SkillAncient Strike: Doctor Fate gathers energy, dealing Spiritual DMG equal to x% of his ATK to an enemy.
SkillDark Magic: At the start of battle every Justice League Dark ally increases the shield granted by Doctor Fate.

Dr. Fate provides massive shields to your entire team, making him invaluable in PvP and other game modes where preventing burst damage is crucial. His shields can completely change the outcome of battles by absorbing huge amounts of damage that would otherwise wipe out your team.

What makes Dr. Fate special compared to other support characters is that his effectiveness doesn't depend as much on the star level. Even at lower stars, his shields provide substantial protection, making him one of the best characters for free-to-play players who can't invest heavily in multiple copies of heroes.

When paired with healers like Poison Ivy or Mera, Dr. Fate creates a really tanky team. The combination of damage absorption from shields and healing creates a defensive wall that most enemy teams struggle to break through.

The main drawback to Dr. Fate is his low personal damage output. He's purely a support/tank character, so you'll need to rely on other team members to actually defeat enemies.

9. Green Arrow

green arrowStats
Hero TypeLegendary
RoleFirepower
SynergyJustice League, Weapon Master
SkillSharp Rain: Green Arrow leaps into the air and shoots a barrage of arrows dealing Physical damage to an enemy.
SkillBoxing Glove Arrow: After a brief charge, Green Arrow fires a special arrow dealing Physical Damage to an enemy.
SkillWatch and Learn: Green Arrow's Crit Rate increases by 15%.
SkillMultitasking: Green Arrow unleashes a volley of arrows into the air, dealing Physical DMG to enemies within range.

Green Arrow is a single-target ranged DPS character who consistently delivers high damage output from the backline. What makes him particularly valuable is his accessibility - as a legendary character, you'll get multiple copies of him early in the game, allowing you to increase his star level much faster than mythic characters.

His kit focuses on precision damage with high critical hit potential. His basic attack does solid single-target damage, while his special abilities can hit even harder.

For team composition, Green Arrow works particularly well in Justice League teams with Superman and Batman, where their synergy bonuses increase everyone's effectiveness.

10. Black Adam

black adamStats
Hero TypeLegendary

SynergyLegion of Doom, Metahuman
SkillPower of Aten: Black Adam channels his power to unleash a lightning storm, dealing spiritual damage to enemies within a rectangular area infront of him.
SkillWrath: Black Adam unleashes a series of lightning bolts, dealing Spiritual DMG to target and nearby enemies.
SkillJudgement of Osiris: Black Adam deals x% more damage to enemies with less than y% HP.
SkillInjustice Society: At the start of the battle, Black Adam's attack increases by x% for Y seconds.

Black Adam is one of the most underrated characters in the game. As a legendary hero, many players overlook him in favor of mythic characters.

What makes Black Adam special is his spiritual damage type and powerful abilities that hit all enemies. In content with multiple opponents, he can clear waves of enemies faster than most single-target-focused characters.

While he's not as versatile as some S-tier characters, Black Adam is an excellent addition to any roster, especially for free-to-play players who need strong AOE damage. He performs particularly well in Metahuman team compositions, where he benefits from synergy bonuses with characters like Superman and Wonder Woman.

Honorable Mentions

  • Scarecrow - Statistically one of the best tanks in the game. His ability to keep your team alive by applying debuffs is exceptional, and he has valuable trio synergies with both Legion of Doom, Arkham's Most Wanted, and Weapon Master tags.
  • Zatana - The best pure support character in the game who can boost attack while also dealing respectable damage on her own. She has a unique ability to summon a magical copy of herself for additional DPS, setting her apart from other supports who lack damage capabilities.
  • Batman - A solid addition to Justice League teams and carries Bat Family lineups.

Building Your Team

When building your team in DC Dark Legion, focus on:

  1. Getting Superman from his banner when available
  2. Building Harley Quinn from login rewards
  3. Leveling Wonder Woman, Mera, Green Arrow, and Black Adam
  4. Adding Dr. Fate for shield support
  5. Saving resources for Joker's and Sinestro's banners

This approach gives you a balanced team with strong damage (Superman, Green Arrow, Black Adam), healing (Mera), tanking (Wonder Woman) that will carry you through most content while you prepare for more advanced team compositions.

Remember that while tier lists are helpful guides, the game is still evolving, and character balance changes happen regularly. Build the characters you enjoy playing, especially if you're not focused on competitive play.
