Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight

Diablo 4 The Midwinter Blight Event Guide: How to Farm Midwinter Proofs

Diablo 4's The Midwinter Blight event kicks off from December 12, 2023 at 10 AM PST to January 2, 2023 at 10 AM PST, giving players an opportunity to earn some exclusive items as well as purchase some new ones from the Platinum Shop.

This is an event for Seasonal characters only, and is primarily for the Cosmetic items that will be permanent. You will also not want to skip this event if you are leveling as it offers a great potion for 15% extra experience (instead of the usual 5%). The unique Aspect that you might want to try out makes you slightly faster in the event zone! Check out all the details in our guide here!

The Midwinter Blight Event Details

Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight

From December 12, 10 a.m.–January 2, 10 a.m. PST players on the Seasonal Realm in World Tier I or above can sink their sword into frostbitten demons by heading over to the Midwinter Square in Kyovashad and speaking with Gileon, the bard. After hearing rumors about spiteful dangers lurking in the snow and the advanced cold sapping the morale of Kyovashad’s citizens, Gileon seeks to reignite the holiday spirit in the townsfolk the only way he knows how—with a celebration!

Midwinter Square

Speak with Gileon the Bard in Kyovashad, marked with a purple icon in the Midwinter Square. He will be your guide to the event and where you can purchase the exclusive event items. The campaign needs to be completed or skipped in order for you to start this event.

You will also find the Collections Table here, where you can exchange the event items that drop from monsters in the event zone to Midwinter Proof, the main currency for this event.

Once you get to Midwinter Tribute Tier 3 (see below), you can use the Midwinter Ward that's here to start using your Shard of Dawn Offensive Aspect (see below) that grants attack and movement speed within the zone. It's a nice bonus, but for those at higher levels it's probably not necessary.

Event Zone

The Red-Cloaked Horror and Blightfiends can be found scattered around in Fractured Peaks, as well as new Events. They drop the event items Blighted Fragments, Lost Heirlooms, and Red-Cloaked Trophy, that you can exchange for Midwinter Proofs at the Collections Table to upgrade the Midwinter Square appearance, unlock rewards, and purchase limited-time event rewards from Gileon!

You can also find Midwinter Husks around the map, where you can break free open stuff like Treasure Goblins, rescue villagers that drop Legendary items, and more.

How to Farm

There will be two ways to farm the Midwinter Proofs - either through killing monsters and completing Fractured Peak events, or once you reach Midwinter Tribute Tier 3, Nightmare Dungeons and even Abattoir of Zir will also drop a bag at the end containing the event items. They're a nice bonus if you need to farm them incidentally, but your most efficient way is to farm Fractured Peak Events.

Monsters are sparsely populated in Fractured Peaks itself. The Gale Valley area (around the Yelesnya Waypoint) is decent, but travelling between the Fractured Peak Events back and fourth as they respawn upon zone refreshing is the best way to farm this event. Below map shows all the locations:

For example, a quick one is between event positions 6 and 8, as they are closest together and also refreshes the zones between them. Take note, not all event locations are changed to Midwinter Blight events.

Midwinter Proof Exchange

Exchange the event items at the Collection Table for Midwinter Proof.

Event Shop

Gileon has some great items for sale in exchange for Midwinter Proofs - while the exclusive cosmetics are the primary purpose here, you also want the Gileon's Brew for its 15% increase in Experience, 15% Maximum Life and 15% Lucky Hit Chance, as well as the new Shard of Dawn Offensive Aspect to try out for some extra speed in the event area.

Any excess Midwinter Proofs after you purchase all the Cosmetics and all the potions you want, can be spent on the Midwinter Spoils or the Purse. While the Gold is not hard to come by in Diablo 4, Purse contains a good chunk (around 1 million Gold) whereas the Spoils contain mediocre level items that you will likely not end up using.
