Minami Oi (2-star Healer and Shielder)

Tribe Nine - Minami Oi Character Overview and Tier List

Minami is a 2-star healer capable of providing shields for her teammates. She excels at using her Strategy Skill, Theme Switch, to heal teammates with low HP as well as create barriers for them whenever she inflict Break on enemies with her Chain Skill. In order to sustain her allies further, she utilizes her Ultimate Skill, Choreography, to restore her Core Competence stacks which is her primary source of healing. This is apart from the AoE attack dealt by her ultimate in battle. At T5, her Core Competence stacks are immediately restored, and her Protection Shields are activated to allies when her HP approaches zero. Minami can sustain her team in prolonged battles, especially when accompanied by tank units like Roku Saigo.

Minami Oi’s healing is decent but her reliance on her Ultimate Skill to replenish her Core Competence stacks is her limitation. Furthermore, she has a low damage output and breaking capabilities, resulting in less time to be played manually in battle.

Santaro Mita (2-star Buffer and Tank)

Tribe Nine - Santaro Mita Character Overview and Tier List

Santaro, a free 2-star buff support and evasive tank, is also in this tier. He excels in inflicting Illusion effects on enemies using his Strategy Skill, Magic Pitch No.1 - Phantom. Enemies under Illusion will be under Santaro’s taunt effects and will miss their first attack on him. For every missed attack, Santaro gains Energize stacks, which changes his Secondary Attack into a buff skill. Another strength of Santaro is his Ultimate Skill, Wild Pitch, which deals damage to enemies at a targeted range at regular intervals and pulls them together. At max Transcend, his Inspire stacks last 2 seconds longer which helps in maintaining the buffs effects of his ally . Santaro's skill set allows him to draw enemy attention, use crowd control effects, and enhance a single ally in battle.

Santaro Mita’s buff skills are unique but they require several steps and timing, which may be difficult for players who frequently switch between units in combat. Additionally, Mita's weak damage output and breaking may place him behind other better support and tank units, making him a less desirable choice.

Koishi Kohinata (2-star DPS and Healer)

Tribe Nine - Koishi Kohinata Character Overview and Tier List

Another healer in this tier is Koishi who is a free 2-star in Tribe Nine. His strength lies in being an active healer and damage dealer for his team. While dealing normal attacks he gains Pawy Aid stacks passively which helps him unlock his healing Strategy Skill, What Can I Do!. He also deals AoE damage and healing through his Ultimate Skill, Time to Eat!. Similar to Minami, Koishi can also enhance his healing effects through his Chain Skill whenever he deals Break effects on his targets. At T5, he can revive fallen teammates in the middle of a battle once with 50% HP recovered. With his kit, Koishi's skill set enables him to be both a proactive healer and an additional fighter in battle.

As mentioned earlier, Koishi can passively replenish his Pawy Aid stacks to heal his teammates which is better than Minami Oi’s Core Competence stack regeneration. Although it takes 10 seconds to restore one Pawy Aid stack, the player can instead control him to fight while waiting for the stacks to accumulate. In addition, Koishi has more party healing options as well as less steps or conditions to execute heals for his team. These qualities make him unique from Minami and Tsuruko Semba. As a free healer unit, Koishi can help you progress through the main story and clear endgame challenges.

Q (3-star Tank)

Tribe Nine - Q Character Overview and Tier List

Q is a standard 3-star tank character that can also deal break effects. Similar to Santaro, he can inflict enemies with taunt effects called Attention through Strategy Skill, Declaration. His Declaration skill also changes his state into Berserk Mode which converts his Strategy Skill into Frantic Impale. When Frantic Impale is active, Q's Primary and Secondary Attacks become enhanced, and he gains an automatic dodge and counterattack effects in battle. When his Transcend is maxed out, he obtains an extra attack from his Declaration skill. Q's whole kit revolves around taunting enemies and dealing enhanced attacks and skills to them.

Although Q is a 3-star unit, his entire kit looks underwhelming because his Ultimate Skill and Chain Skill provide no further effects in battle aside from damage. In addition, Q has no passive method of replenishing his Madness stacks and must rely on his base Strategy Skill to generate them. Lastly, his in-game damage output and breaking capability are lackluster, and players would rather have a dedicated damage dealer and breaker unit in their teams.

Eiji Todoroki (2-star Buffer and Tank)

Tribe Nine - Eiji Todoroki Character Overview and Tier List

Eiji is another 2-star buff unit who can be an evasive tanker for his team. His strengths lie in his Strategy Skill, Spotlight, which inflicts enemies with Attention, a taunt effect, and increases his allies’ Crit Rate by 10% through an area buff. In addition, his team also gains access to a unique buff that refunds a portion of their Ultimate’s cost. Another source of Eiji’s strength is his Ultimate Skill, Money is Power!, which boosts his teammates’ Primary Attack and Secondary Attack damage multipliers for a certain period. If he gains a lot of Euphoria stacks while his Strategy Skill is active, it will also increase the duration of his Ultimate Skill’s damage buff. Euphoria stacks are obtained whenever his teammates hit enemies within the activation of his field buff. Eiji’s passives, Key Player and Limit Up, help increase the effect of his Ultimate Skill’s damage buff as well as recharge his allies’ tension gauge in battle. At max Transcend, Eiji provides additional Crit Rate increase and its duration can be extended further.

Despite having powerful buff effects in his kit, Eiji Todoroki seems to have limited damage and breaking output. Eiji can be a valuable asset for teams that require a dedicated buffer, while other team compositions may need other hybrid units with powerful DPS and Support skills like Tsuruko Semba.

Hyakuichitaro Senju (2-star Breaker and Shielder)

Tribe Nine - Hyakuichitaro Senju Character Overview and Tier List

Another unit in this tier is Senju, a 2-star breaker capable of casting shields to his allies. His Secondary Attack deals significant break damage to enemies, while his Ultimate Skill does significant AoE damage on them. While dealing break effects, he can also cast shields for his team using his Primary Attack, Strategy Skill, and Chain Skill. These attacks and skills help him build up Fighting Spirit stacks, allowing him to activate Intimidating Ignition’s shield effect. Since Senju’s shield would also cost him a portion of HP, he needs to learn and level up his first passive, Belligerent, to reduce the amount of damage he receives. His second passive, Adachi Spirit, can also be unlocked in order to provide him HP recovery if his Fighting Spirit reaches maximum stack. At T5, Senju gains an additional 30% damage reduction from Intimidating Ignition, as well as a 30% decrease in damage taken.

Although Hyakuichitaro Senju can sustain himself with his second passive, he would be safer alongside allies capable of healing in battle, such as Minami, and Koishi. Senju also needs allies who can help him increase his damage output further, such as Eiji or Tsuruko. To leverage Senju's full potential as a breaker, you may need to invest resources in him to raise his passives. Furthermore, his damage output is limited.

Yutaka Gotanda (2-star DPS)

Tribe Nine - Yutaka Gotanda Character Overview and Tier List

Yutaka is a 2-star pure DPS capable of dealing single-target and multi-target attacks in battle. His playstyle involves spamming beam attacks to his target while moving across the battlefield. Then, he builds up Charge stacks from through his Primary and Secondary Attacks and later unlocks his Strategy Skill, Extensive. Extensive is another damage dealing skill which hits a target using an AoE attack as the cost of 20 Charge Stacks. In addition, Yutaka’s Ultimate Skill, Full Commitment, is another AoE attack that shoots a large beam that increases its Crit Rate by 1% based on each Charge Stack used. The damage output of his ultimate can still be further increased by reaching T5 and leveling his first passive. Leveling his second passive can also provide attack buffs to his team.

Yutaka Gotanda is a straightforward damage dealer that is easy to play. However, you need to take note of the stamina you consume when spamming beam attacks and be aware of your positioning in the battlefield. Majority of his overall damage output comes from his Ultimate but the damage it does is still average compared to 3-star DPS units.

Tsuruko Semba (3-star DPS and Healer)

Tribe Nine - Tsuruko Semba Character Overview and Tier List

Tsuruko is a limited 3-star DPS and support character known for her versatile kit. She provides both sustained ranged damage and healing capabilities in battle. Her ultimate skill attacks all enemies and grants a Turning Tides buff to allies, which recovers 50% of their maximum HP when below 50% health. Her primary attacks are ranged and can increase Twilight's Embrace stacks, enhancing her support capabilities. However, her low break ability limits her effectiveness in direct combat.

Roku Saigo (2-star Tank)

Tribe Nine - Roku Saigo Character Overview and Tier List

Saigo is a free and formidable 2-star defender, excelling in survivability and tanking capabilities. His strategy skill, Shock Absorber, makes him nearly invulnerable, trading stamina for a significant 70% damage reduction. As he absorbs attacks, he builds rage, which enhances his defense and provides HP regeneration. Saigo is still a solid choice due to his exceptional survivability and tanking effectiveness.

Jio Takinogawa (3-star Debuffer)

Tribe Nine - Jio Takinogawa Character Overview and Tier List

Jio is a standard 3-star debuffer who focuses on poison-based damage and defense shred. His Venom mechanism causes poison damage over time (DoT) and detonates for AoE damage when capped. He may also reduce foes' armor by 25% and deal break damage. His skills require patience and strategic play to maximize their impact, but his capped damage output makes him less suitable for fast-paced battles. Despite these limitations, Jio's unique abilities make him a valuable asset in specific team compositions.

Yo Kuronaka (2-star Breaker and Healer)

Tribe Nine - Yo Kuronaka Character Overview and Tier List

The protagonist of Tribe Nine, Yo, is a 2-star breaker who can also heal his fellow teammates in battle. His Primary and Secondary Attacks are melee-based, but his Secondary Attack also enables Burst Drive, a mechanic that momentarily extends his attack range. When Burst Drive is active, he can unleash his Strategy Skill, Hitting Stride, which damages a target with a cross slash and makes the enemy lose its balance. His Chain Skill is a standard follow-up attack, and his Ultimate Skill is a powerful lunge attack with many hits. Yo's first passive increases the damage of his Primary Attack and Strategy Skill, and his second passive helps his team recover a portion of HP from the damage he dealt on an enemy while Burst Drive is active. At T5, Yo's Ultimate Skill will also get an extra effect that will raise foes' break damage taken by 50% within 10 seconds. What distinguishes Yo's skill set is his ability to break foes while healing his allies even when not operated manually in battle.

As an all-rounder unit, Yo Kurokonaka can fit with many teams that needs a breaker or a healer.

Kazuki Aoyama (3-star Breaker and Shielder)

Tribe Nine - Kazuki Aoyama Character Overview and Tier List

Kazuki is the current best breaker in Tribe Nine. As a limited 3-star, he deals significant damage to opponents while shielding his teammates. His kit consists of Memory stacks, which may be used to boost his damage or attacks. He is also capable of breaking foes fast and dealing a lot of damage. Also, breaking enemies quickly allows him to dodge or counterattack. His strategic playstyle makes him helpful in a number of team combinations. To prevent Memory stacks from depleting, his assaults and skills must be carefully controlled.

Tsuki Iroha (2-star DPS and Buffer)

Tribe Nine - Tsuki Iroha Character Overview and Tier List

Tsuki is a free 2-star damage dealer who can increase her damage potential as well as buff her allies during combat. Her Primary and Secondary Attacks do ranged damage and grant her Alpha and Beta balls, respectively. Once she gets both these balls, she can then utilize her Strategy Skill, Iroha Ball Delta, which causes an enemy to take more damage and lose balance when struck. Furthermore, her Ultimate skill, Iroha Ball Omega, provides tremendous AoE damage to enemies and has the potential to take them down immediately. These are her various sources of damage, which can be boosted by her second passive, Formation Shift, which is a damage multiplier based on Tsuki's available support points. In terms of her buffing capabilities, she provides an additional 10% Critical Rate to the party whenever she uses her Chain Skill. At T5, Tsuki offers a +30 Support point boost to the team for 30 seconds after using a Chain Skill. With her kit, Tsuki can be played as your main DPS or Sub DPS depending on your team composition and playstyle.

Tsuki Iroha is a significantly underestimated character because she is a free unit early in the game and has a 2-star rating. Initially, you may struggle with Iroha's incapacity to kill many enemies because her AoE attacks may not cover as much distance as you would like, and you may need to practice timing her Ultimate Skill to hit moving targets. She also has decent base stats to begin with, but as you level her up and acquire more duplicate copies of her, she will eventually become one of your top units in the game. Especially when you equipped her with optimal Patimon Sets and correct Tension Cards with best substats. She is one of the best DPS options in version 1.0, with Yo Kuronaka, for beginner players and free-to-play.

Enoki Yukigaya (3-star DPS)

Tribe Nine - Enoki Yukigaya Character Overview and Tier List

Enoki is a standard 3-star DPS who focuses on single-target damage. She deals melee attacks and can stack Heat to boost her damage output. Her Ultimate Skill, Ignition, ignites her blade with blue flames, resulting in a tremendous slash attack on enemies. To fully realize her potential, players must master her kit due to her aggressive playstyle. However, managing heat stacks in battle can be deadly if not done properly.

Miu Jujo (3-star DPS)

Tribe Nine - Miu Jujo Character Overview and Tier List

Miu is another standard 3-star DPS, specializing in burst damage through her Ultimate Skill, Resonance Accelerator. She is a powerful unit in team fights since she increases the damage output of her ultimate by building up Resonance stacks. She is skilled at arranging Luminous Crystals to optimize her damage potential, and her Primary Attacks are ranged. Her reliance on Resonance stacks can make her a bit challenging to use effectively in close combat.

Conclusion and Final Recommendations

Tribe Nine version 1.0 has 15 playable characters, 6 of whom are 3-stars and 9 of them are 2-stars. For limited 3-star characters, Kazuki Aoyama is your first priority to pull due to his break speed, shielding capabilities, and flexible team options. If you still have pulls left, it is also worth pulling for Tsuruko Semba because of her high damage output and sustained healing.

When it comes to standard 3-star characters, pick between Enoki Yukigaya and Miu Jujo as your guaranteed unit from the character selector. Between the two, Miu is less difficult to play but both can function as your main DPS unit in your premium and F2P teams. After the two, pick Jio Takinogawa as your second or third option since he is a unique debuffer specializing in armor shred and DoT effects.

For free-to-play or budget players, we generally recommend getting more duplicate copies of 2-star units as you continue to play Tribe Nine’s main story and endgame modes. Among the current 2-star characters, aim to get multiple copies of Yo Kuronaka, Tsuki Iroha, Koishi Kohinata, and Roku Saigo..

While this tier list focuses on Tribe Nine's current top units based on battle performance and team synergies, keep in mind that your playstyle and available in-game resources should ultimately dictate your investment choices. Even 2-star A-tier and B-tier characters can excel with proper team building, appropriate Tension Cards, and optimal Patimon setups, particularly when finishing main story content and clearing endgame modes!
