Loen for PVE

Keeping in the theme of fire mage tropes, Loen role is making big, fiery explosions. She is one of the hardest hitting magic units in the game with her 750% multiplier, and certainly the hardest hitting magic 3x3 AOE by a long shot. Comparing her to other magic 3x3's at +5 full potential, MB.Celia deals 3x160%, and MSP.Schera deals 5x65%, which come nowhere near Loen.

Loen also has very high base crit damage (100%, compared to the usual 50%), which further improves her damage. It comes at the cost of having a low base 5% crit rate (half the usual 10%), but that's not really a big deal for PVE because crits are guaranteed in fiend hunts, and you can retry in other PVE modes anyway if you miss the crit.

Loen is obviously built for PVE, and she is great for pretty much all PVE modes. Her niche is that she is the only magic fire attacker released to date. Fire is a somewhat crowded element with a lot of good physical attacker options (e.g. Liatris, Rubia, Anastasia), including two DEF shredders for dealing with high DEF opponents (Rubia, Elise). Still, if you ever come across Wind enemies with very high DEF and low M.RES, Loen would be the most powerful choice.

Loen for PVP

Loen performs poorly in PVP. Despite the high damage, 5 SP is far too costly. There are better magic attacker options for less cost and better utility.

Conclusion

Loen is a big nuke, plain and simple. For beginners needing more firepower to clear the story and challenging PVE content, Loen is a great pick. For those who want to "collect em all" and have phys/magic attackers in every color element, Loen is also your only option for magic/fire.

Otherwise, for players that already have enough firepower to clear all PVE content, investing the latest "damage powercreep" character is an optional luxury.
