How to use this tier list
Brown Dust 2 is a unique game because the effectiveness of a unit depends on which costumes you have, and what level your costumes are. Tier lists that don't take costumes into account are not useful in BD2.
This tier list gives an overall PVP tier ranking for each unit assuming that you have the "perfect unit" with a +5 copy of each costume and optimized gears. However, since most players cannot obtain a "perfect" unit, it also gives tier ratings to each costume, so that you can see which costumes you need to reach the unit's full potential in Mirror Wars (PVP).
When using the tier list, please bear in mind the following:
- Having 2 or 3 costumes is significantly better than having only 1 costume for PVP, because this allows you to use a second costume skill whilst the first costume skill is cooling down. The overall tier rankings assume that you have at least 2 costumes (where applicable).
- A high level costume with a lower tier ranking will generally be better than a low level costume with a higher tier ranking. For example, Curse Celia +5 would probably be a better pick for your PVP team than a Lovely Lady Elise +0.
- Other than Arines, no 3-stars are included in this tier list, as they generally do not see play in upper ranks of competitive play (especially since the units you can get for free from story and pub recruit are all pretty good).
- For units that mainly have a tanking role (e.g. Lecliss), gear is arguably more important than costumes. Although the costume skills give powerful and useful buffs, due to the popularity of Schera (who removes enemy buffs on ALL her skills), costume buffs are not as reliable as good gear. Unique gears make a big difference for tanks as they significantly improve survivability.
