Who is Tower of Fantasy Frigg?
Frigg is an SSR Simulacrum, and one of the major antagonists of the main storyline. She is a fierce and headstrong character, and also an Angel of Clemency alongside Nemesis. Frigg is the right hand of Sage who heeds to every order and was granted to forefront the troops of the Heirs of Aida.
Released on September 1, she’s currently the newest character that’s available on the limited banner.
Frigg will catch one’s eyes with her fiery pink hair and enthralling multislash attacks! Clearly, She’s very set on her goals proving her unrivaled determination.
"To destroy the Tower of Fantasy is to save the world," is the view that has been ingrained deeply in her mind, and Frigg believes in it with total conviction.
In this Tower of Fantasy Build Guide, we will cover weapon stats and type, skills, attacks and moveset, best builds, best matrices, awakening traits, best team comps, upgrade materials, best gifts and gacha. If you are planning to pull for her or just plain curious if maxing her out is worth it this guide is definitely for you!
Balmung
Tower of Fantasy Frigg uses a powerful frost sword that is called Balmung which has a great base attack and a somewhat decent charge & shatter ability. It is a DPS-type of weapon under the element Ice.
Wielding it, she’s an absolutely insane character which is also the reason for nerfing her in the global version of the game. But although she’s been adjusted, people still think of her as broken, especially when equipped with the right matrices and built properly!
Harness her icy skills by taking a look at our strategy guide and mastering her weapon in the game. Here we list all of Balmung's main stat before leveling it up:
Type: Ice shell - Fully charged weapons freeze the target for two seconds and leave it frostbitten for six seconds. Breaking the ice shell causes additional damage equal to 151.00% of attack. While frostbitten, the target’s weapon charge rate is reduced by 50%
Weapon Effects
Different weapon resonance effects can be activated depending on the two active weapons that are being used. Basically, you will need to equip at least two of the same type of weapons in order to trigger the resonance.
In Frigg's case. the Attack Reso will be activated as long as she's paired with another DPS-type weapon such as Tsubasa's Icewind Arrow, that's going to increase the final damage by 10%. In team play, this increases to 40%.
Frost Resonance is also very important to maximize her skills and is more advised. With that, it is good to recommend for Frigg to be in a Team comp together with another Ice-type weapon such as Meryl’s Rosy edge, and we will be discussing more of this in depth as we go along the way under the Team Comps section.
Elemental Frost Resonance increases frost ATK by 15% and frost resistance by 25%. Activate by equipping 2 or more frost weapons. This set's effect also works with weapons in the off-hand slot. This effect does not stack.
Tower of Fantasy Frigg Skills
Here we take a look at Frigg's skill, normal and dodge attacks that increases as you level up the weapon:
Normal attacks
Normal Attack
Initiate 5 attacks in a row with Balmung when on the ground. • First Attack: Deal damage equal to 62.1% of ATK + 3 and knock the target back a short distance. • Second Attack: Deal damage equal to 46.2% of ATK + 2 and knock the target back a short distance. • Third Attack: Deal damage equal to 91.1% of ATK + 5 and knock the target back a short distance. • Fourth Attack: Deal damage equal to 55.8% of ATK + 3 and knock the target back a short distance. • Fifth Attack: Deal damage equal to 218.4% of ATK + 11 and knock down the target. |
Aerial Discharge
While airborne or after jumping once, tap normal attack to attack 5 times in a row. • First Attack: Deal damage equal to 64.4% of ATK + 3. • Second Attack: Deal damage equal to 72.6% of ATK + 4. • Third Attack: Deal damage equal to 76.7% of ATK + 4. • Fourth Attack: Deal damage equal to 107.9% of ATK + 6. • Fourth Attack: Deal damage equal to 168.3% of ATK + 9. |
Soaring Slash
While normal attacking, hold normal attack to trigger Soaring Slash. Lunge forward with a horizontal swipe, then launch the target into the air before soaring up with the target. Deal a maximum of 134.3% of ATK + 7 damage. |
Helix Slash
Tap and hold normal attack while airborne (or tap when a target is selected), or tap normal attack while climbing, jumping backward, or using the Jetpack to trigger Helix Slash. While falling, deal damage equal to 19.8% of ATK + 1 each hit. Upon landing, deal damage equal to 185.7% of ATK + 10 to nearby targets. |
Dodge Attacks
Multislash
Tap normal attack during the short perfect dodge window to trigger Multislash. Afterwards, unleash multiple slashes at a set distance in front of the user, dealing total damage equal to 143.9% of ATK + 8. Dodge: Dodge right before getting hit to trigger a Phantasia, reducing the speed of enemies within an area. Become immune to hitstun for 0.5 seconds while dodging. |
Weapon Skill
Fimbulwinter
Slash the space around the Wanderer, dealing total damage equal to 577.5% of ATK + 30. Because of it, this can suspend and launch targets, and grant damage immunity while this skill is in use. 30-second cooldown. After unleashing "Fimbulwinter", a large frost domain will be eventually formed around you for 25 seconds. Subsequently, the number of dodge you can perform will not be deducted when you perform the Balmung dodge within the frost domain. Grant "Domain of Frost I" when you are in the frost domain, and increase shatter by 25% when using a frost weapon. |
Weapon Discharge
Frigid Fracture
When a weapon charge is full or Phantasia is triggered, clear all debuffs from the user and dash forward upon switching to this weapon, temporarily controlling opponents in an area before unleashing a gigantic slash. After that, deal damage equal to 618.2% of ATK + 33 and launch enemies into the air. |
Tower of Fantasy Frigg Advancement
For Advancement, this build guide will walk you through what each level or stars do to Tower of Fantasy Frigg’s skills. It has a total of 6-stars advancement and this will help to see if it is worth maxing her out ingame and whether you should use your materials and resources for leveling up.
Getting an additional copy of Balmung will grant you a star, and you start to activate even greater passives and skills along with it. The first time you get a copy of Balmung is considered a No-star and you will have to roll again or purchase them via the commissary's weapons store using Black Gold in hopes of advancing your weapons by feeding copies.
Here are the passives from stars 1-6:
One Star | Gain 1 frostiness point every time you deal 550% x Frost ATK of damage in the Frost Domain. Up to 10 frost points can be accumulated. When Frost Domain ends, frostiness points x Frost ATK x 95% of blast damage will be dealt to all enemies in the Frost Domain. After leaving the Frost Domain, lose 1 frostiness point every 3 seconds. |
Two Star | Increase the current weapon's base HP growth by 16%. |
Three Star | Increase frostiness limit to 15. When using discharge skills of frost weapons in the frost domain, deal damage equal to 20% of Frost ATK x (current frostiness + 5) to all the targets in the frost domain. |
Four Star | Increase the current weapon's base ATK growth by 32%. |
Five Star | Shattering shields using frost weapons in the Frost Domain will freeze the target for 2 seconds and cause frostiness points x Frost ATK x 35% of additional damage (if the target cannot be frozen, double the additional damage dealt). |
Six Star | When frostiness reaches 15 points and you are in the Frost Domain, you will get an additional "Domain of Frost II" that increases Frost ATK by 12% when frost weapons are used. |
These passives are great but you won’t be able to unlock all of these unless you get additional copies of Frigg and her weapon, the Balmung. Getting multiple copies of SR weapons is more likely of course than getting SSR’s. So you would need a ton of patience -and Nucleus for pulling.
Tower of Fantasy Frigg Pros and Cons
Frigg is an incredible Ice-type unit that deals an immense DMG per second to her enemies. This is done in-game all by using her multislashes and powerful normal & dodge attacks. By using her skill, Fimbulwinter, it not only creates a large frost domain it simultaneously buffs the shatter ability of all frost weapons inside it. Adding the fact that Frigg gains infinite dodges which are totally incredible.
Upon awakening, her simulacra traits also allow her to gain a hyperbody, a golden armor that prevents the enemies from knocking you out, albeit for only 25 seconds.
But imagine not getting burns, freeze and the paralyzing effects from enemies!
The main reason for people wanting to pull for her should be the iframe (Iframe makes you invulnerable to damage), and ice resonance. You should be able to do an infinite number of her multislashes as well, but although this may be true, this is actually also her biggest nerf and adjustment from the CN version of the game. And this makes some people think twice about pulling for her, saying they totally ruined her kit.
In CN, when casting her first skill Fimbulwinter, the Domain of Frost will grant Frigg and other frost weapons a +25% shattering ability. Aside from this, another buff called Frozen Domain 1 gives frost weapons another 25% shatter and 15% ATK. In total, that's a +50% shatter ability so we’re down in Global version by 25% as compared to the CN.
Important Note: As of September 6, 2022 after the server maintenance, Frigg's Frozen Domain I is back!
At the end of the day, it is a gacha game, so pull for the character that you want and enjoy!

Best Gifts for Frigg Awakening

Tower of Fantasy Frigg Best Matrices
Since Frigg is a very effective damage-dealer character that capitalizes on her dash & slashes in Tower of Fantasy, and with her constant DPS, the recommended Matrices from SR-SSR are the following:
Matrices | Effects |
Sobek (SR) 3pc | Increase damage dealt by 6%/7.5%/9% for each enemy nearby. Altogether, up to 3 stacks. |
Huma (SSR) 2pc | Hitting targets with dodge skills inflicts bleed, dealing damage equal to 15%/19%/22.5%/26% of ATK every second for 5 seconds. |
Samir (SSR) 2pc | Deal more damage upon hitting a target, each time by 1.5%, up to 10/13/16/20 stacks. Buff stacking time: 2 seconds. |
Frigg (SSR) 4pc | When switching from a frost weapon to another frost weapon, Frost ATK is increased by 15%/18%/21%/25% for 10 seconds. Take not that only the highest level's effect is applied when obtained repeatedly. Following this, when using Frozen Domain, enemies within the domain take 60%/75%/90%/105% of Frost ATK every second. |
On the other hand, you can also pair these matrices with one another to create an optimal build. All in all, 2 pc Samir with 2 pc Crow is also viable along with 2 pc Frigg and 2 pc Crow. Another one that should work would be 2 pc King and 2 pc Shiro.
Best Team Comp
Frigg - Tsubasa - Meryl
Taking advantage of the Elemental Frost Resonance, it is important to consider using Frigg alongside another frost weapon when forming a team. As shown above, Frigg is with Tsubasa and Meryl. Using the Icewind arrow as an opening and attack weapon, this will help to reach a 1000-point weapon charge to help you unleash Frigg’s discharge frequently. Now, with Meryl’s superb shield-breaking ability with the arguably the highest shatter in game, Meryl’s set to break shields like crazy especially when inside Frigg’s Fimbulwinter frost domain.
Alternatively, you can pair her with this Team Comp as well:
Frigg - Cocoritter - Meryl
Cocoritter would be a great option to replace Tsubasa, she will be able to activate the Frost Resonance and also provide healing in the team. Additionally, Cocoritter’s crowd control is also one of the factors as to why choosing her is optimal.
