Who is Rhya?
Rhya's character in "Black Clover" is quite intriguing and plays a significant role in the series. As an Elf possessing the soul of Licht, he initially appears as an antagonist working with the Eye of the Midnight Sun to exact revenge on the humans for the massacre of the Elves centuries ago.
Rhya, along with other Third Eye members, exhibits incredible strength and magical abilities. His Copia magic allows him to replicate the spells and abilities of other magic users, making him a versatile and adaptable fighter. This skill not only makes him a formidable opponent in battles but also adds depth to the conflicts and challenges faced by the protagonists, especially Asta and the Magic Knights.
As the story progresses, Rhya's character experiences significant development. His interactions with other characters, particularly his interactions with Asta and the other Magic Knights, shed light on his true nature and the complexity of his allegiance. Throughout the series, Rhya faces internal conflicts, grappling with his past and the choices he has made.
Without giving away too much for those who haven't caught up, Rhya's character undergoes a transformation that leads to pivotal moments, not just in his personal journey but also in the broader storyline of "Black Clover." His development adds layers to the themes of forgiveness, redemption, and the blurred lines between good and evil.
Rhya's presence in "Black Clover" serves as a catalyst for character growth, plot twists, and revelations that keep the audience engaged and intrigued by the intricate narrative woven within the series. His role as an antagonist-turned-potential ally highlights the depth and complexity of the conflicts present in the world of "Black Clover.
Rhya's Role
Attribute | Class |
---|---|
Sense | attacker |
Rhya is a character who wants to be buffed to unleash powerful attacks, a substantial advantage in this game where buffing significantly amplifies damage potential. Starting with his skills, let's break them down:
Receiving buffs increases the number of available actions. Rhya, as an attacker, activates additional attacks when in a buffed state with Skill 1 or a special move, thereby boosting overall firepower.
To acquire buffs, relying on support from other supporters is recommended, as it requires either copying the enemy's buffs with Skill 2 or utilizing bond combined attacks.
After unlocking the passive, it's advisable to avoid extending buffs. While performance improves in a buffed state, extending the duration through buffs might become a disadvantage since both effects of the passive trigger upon "when the buff expires."
Given that the buff extension is limited to certain characters and isn't frequently used, it's not a major concern. However, if aiming to maximize Rhya's potential, prioritize granting other buffs over extending buffs.
Recommended Skill Pages
For skill pages, the attack-focused ones work best. The ones providing attack, crit rate, or increased damage against bosses are solid choices.
The effectiveness varies based on the content being tackled, but having his motif skill page that enables the removal of two enemy buffs is recommended.
However, if emphasizing attack power, it's recommended to equip other skill pages since the passive doesn't notably influence firepower
Skill Page | Reason for recommendation |
---|---|
a treacherous man | ・Motif skill page ・Enemy buff removal added to skill II ・Accuracy increase passive if you have 3 or more buffs at the start of the turn |
breath of darkness | ・Unconditionally increases all attack power ・General-purpose page that can be used by other attackers |
respect for beliefs | ・Increases damage when HP is 50% or more ・Ideal for laps where stable capture is possible |
lion's spirit | - Total attack power increases according to remaining HP - Ideal for laps where stable capture is possible |
Recommended Equipment Sets
When gearing Rhya, focus on attack, as it complements his higher attack stat. Substats should emphasize attack percentage, crit rate, crit damage, and possibly accuracy. Crit resistance can also be considered for CC.

Skills and Passives
Skill One is an AoE attack dealing 62% AoE damage, slightly weaker than Red Yami's AoE. However, it includes an additional 30% attack and Magic attack if buffed, surpassing Red Yami's damage output.
Skill Two copies two enemy buffs, inflicting decent damage. It's not exceptionally strong, lacking a specific attack or penetration boost, which could have been beneficial.
But, here comes the main part of his kit. Rhya is primarily a PVE unit, executing an extra attack of 70% attack and Magic attack if he has two or more buffs. For each buff on him, he gains an additional 15% increased damage dealt. With 10 buffs, it means an extra 150% damage, and when factoring in the maxed extra attack at 3% attack and Magic attack, the damage can skyrocket.
His combined attack with Licht scales very high, hitting 150% attack or Magic attack at max level. Leveling up both sides counts separately, so it's essential to maximize both for the full 150% boost.
Now, onto his passives. When a buff expires, he heals 15% HP per wave, a decent mechanic but nothing groundbreaking. His dupe passive grants 2.5% attack per buff, reaching up to 7.5% and maxing out at 15% attack. The stats he gets aren't exceptional; I'd prefer more focus on attack with crit, but it seems they balanced it due to Lich's crit-heavy nature.

Team Composition
Regarding teams, Rhya's main teams involve Licht or any combination with him, Charlotte, Finral, and Sally. For nuking, Charlotte, Finral, and Sally work wonders. Rhya in PVP without Licht isn't as effective.
