5th Developer Notes: Improvements and Updates

Today, I would like to talk about the improvements of the things that players are currently giving a lot of opinions about, and additional contents that we are preparing for.

■ Home menu improvement (updated on July 20)
The home menu decoration function that many players have mentioned will be updated.
You can place the basic illustration or cutscene of the acquired character (costume), and special animations of the cleared Pack on your Home screen, where only Scheherazade appears as of now.
It is also possible to loop the basic illustration, cut scene, and special animations.
We hope you can fully enjoy your favorite characters the way you want.

■ Save and load companion formation (updated on July 20)
We will be adding the ability to save and load 5 formations in the Companion menu.
Apart from traditional battle formation presets, you can also set up and recall a list of your companions to be displayed on the field.

■ Temporary Companion compulsory participation change (updated on July 20)
In the past, temporary companions entered formation as the first character. the system was conducted for the purpose of allowing players to experience temporary companion characters. However, a lot of players have told us about the inconvenience of changing to a formation that they don't want.

Therefore, the temporary companion will no longer enter the formation while maintaining the ability to be used in the combat.

■ Reducing the number of field trap objects (updated on July 20)
Traps in the field were developed to give fun like an action RPG, but we agree that they act as stress factors while using the automatic movement function.
Therefore, we are trying to provide a pleasant play environment by reducing the number of field trap objects.

■ [Steal] talent skill improvement (updated on July 20)
As guided through the Lisianne’s Letter, we will be reducing the number of NPCs in which [Skill] talent skill can be used to reduce the fatigue of having to use [Steal] talent skill on all NPCs in the pack.

[Steal] talent skill can only be used by 1-3 NPCs per pack and only in story packs. Moreover, the stealing success rate is fixed at 100%.

As a result, the rewards for stealing will be increased, and when the talent skill level is raised, the probability of success does not increase, but the amount of compensation that can be received increases.

Also, in the future, NPCs in which you can use the [Steal] talent skill will only be placed in story packs. You can get a lot of special rewards from naughty NPCs, so be prepared to enjoy this content.

■ 8:00 PM Initialization (updated on July 20)
As informed through the Lisianne’s Letter, all of the following field content will be initialized at 8:00 PM (UTC).

- Regular field monster: 22 hours → 8:00 PM (UTC) initialization
- Talent Skill "Steal": 22 hours → 8:00 PM (UTC) initialization
- Talent Skill "Search": 22 hours → 8:00 PM (UTC) initialization
- Talent Skill "Explore": 22 hours → 8:00 PM (UTC) initialization
- Objects: 22 hours → 8:00 PM (UTC) initialization

8:00 PM initialization has already been decided internally but it took time to notify our players.
In the future, we will let you know more quickly about the decision.

Next, I will talk about the plans for the August update.

■ Exclusive gear system improvement (August Update)
We have prepared improvements with the goal of giving you confidence that exclusive gear can make your character become stronger, so we will add 'exclusive abilities' to fit the concept of exclusive gear that can only be worn by specific characters.

Exclusive abilities are given stats that match the character's battle concept.

- Current: Basic ability 1 (fixed) / Basic ability 2 (random)
- Change: Exclusive Ability (Fixed) / Basic Ability 1 (Fixed) / Basic Ability 2 (Random)

■ Gear option refining system (August update)
You will be able to obtain Refining Crystals along with Refining Powder by dismantling exclusive gear.
You can refine the gear options granted by using the Refining Crystal.
Options that can be refined are all options given at the time of basic ability 2 and options given on Rank 3, Rank 6, and Rank 9. Option refinement is possible for both exclusive gear and general gear.

■ Adjustment of gear balance according to rank (August update)
We agree that there is not much difference between high-grade and low-grade gear stats, so we will be raising the stats of high-grade gear. We want to make sure that UR-grade gear and exclusive gear are worthy of the rarest gear.

■ Gear crafting probability announcement
When crafting gear, the probability of producing basic / advanced / premium / legendary grades is as follows.

In addition to the draw, we will improve the probability content to specify the probability in the game.

■ Character charm complementary elements added (August update)

In order to make the characters of BrownDust2 attractive, we have prepared a lot of settings and voices. However, we didn't have enough space to show it in-game.

Therefore, we are trying to make you can feel the charm of the character throughout the game.

First, seeing each character's profile and listening to the voice,
We are trying to add a function that outputs voice along with motion when a character is touched on the character detail view screen.
In the future, we plan to add various systems so that players can feel attracted to and attached to the BrownDust2 characters.

■ Skill cut scenes (August- update)
We plan to continuously add 2 or more skill cutscenes of existing characters every 4 weeks.
In August, Sylvia and Anastasia's basic costume skill cutscenes will be added.

Through steady updates, all ★5 costumes will have skill cut scenes added.

■ Main quest full voice-over progress (2nd half of 2023- update)
To provide users with a better storytelling experience, we decided to do full voice-over of the main quest in both Korean and Japanese.
All existing Story Packs 4 to 8 and Character Packs 1 to 4 will be applied with full voice-over sequentially from the second half of 2023,
We will also try to provide voice-over on the packs that will be updated in the future.

However, recording a voice actor takes a lot of time, and there are additional considerations such as coordinating schedules with voice actors so the future packs will be provided as partial voice-over.

We will also make sure that all of these packs can be updated with full voice-over after additional recording.

Also, for users who have already cleared all the difficulty levels of all packs, we are also reviewing the addition of a new difficulty level along with providing full voice-over.

We will prepare for you to experience the story with great immersion through full voice-over and new packs.

■ Request System (August update)
A request system is added to reduce the fatigue of repetitive contents.

The request system is similar to Olstein's talent skill 'Dispatch'.
You can automatically obtain rewards for certain content at regular intervals without running or playing the game.

The request system is divided into two main parts:
A. ‘Hunting request (tentative name)’, which automatically proceeds with repeated battles in the background, such as hunting grounds and adventure routes
B. ‘Adventure Quest (tentative name)’, which automatically proceeds field contents such as stealing, field monster hunting, and exploration in the background.

We will prepare to introduce them sequentially as soon as possible.

■ Collection buff value upper limit setting (August update)
The collection buff is a system designed to give you the satisfaction of collecting.
However, we noticed that this system could be seen as an element that forces users to pay to become strong.

In order to prevent the phenomenon of widening the gap between existing users and new users and to achieve the original goal of providing the satisfaction of collection, We're trying to set an upper limit on the maximum number of collection buffs.

As a result, anyone can achieve the maximum limit just by playing consistently.
We will make sure that the users who have already achieved the maximum level will not be negatively affected.

■ Other improvements (August ~ continuous update)
1) Semi-transparent Monsters that overlap
> We're trying to improve the case where you have trouble strategizing because you can't see the enemy behind a large monster.

2) Preview function for costume upgrade results
> We will be adding the feature where you can preview character's performance up to [+5] upgrade.

3) Function to pin frequently used talent skills at the top.
- By pinning frequently used talent skills, we are trying to improve the fatigue of finding the necessary talent skills by opening the talent skill menu every time.

4) Shortcut function to frequently visited places
- We are trying to improve the fatigue of finding the way every time by adding a function that allows you to automatically move to places you frequently go to, such as inns and shops.

5) Gear alignment, automatic dismantle function
- We are trying to improve bag management by adding a function to sort and automatically dismantle gears.

■ Various packages (July 20- continuous update)
We will be updating packages available for purchase from time to time in the near future.

In addition, various packages are being reviewed, and we will continue to add efficient packages with good items that users can be satisfied with.

■ Bug / Optimization / Server Stability Issues
We recognize that users are experiencing a lot of inconvenience due to frequent server loading during gameplay.
We are sorry that we couldn't provide you with a pleasant play environment.

DB optimization is underway for every patch, and number of servers is sufficient, but It takes some time to improve the response delay phenomenon without interfering with the gameplay of normal users regarding abnormal access (IP blocking, account blocking, etc.)

Providing a stable play environment to users will continue to be a top priority and we will keep improving on this matter.

■ Future communication direction
I am learning every day that quick communication with users is really important.

From then on, through ‘GM Lisianne’s Letter’, we will quickly answer the issues that current users are most curious about.
In the Developer’s Notes, we will mainly deliver mid-term to long-term update plans like this.

The contents of this developer's note are items that have been confirmed to be updated in the near future.
In addition, we are preparing many improvements that reflect our players' opinions.

We are doing our best to develop additional systems and add content that are scheduled for update.

We will continue to listen to various opinions that users give us and try to improve the game.
We will try our best to make BrownDust2 more enjoyable.
