9th Developer Notes: New contents and Improvement

Hello. I am the Producer of BrownDust2, Jun-hee Lee.

The summer event that started with the 300 Draw is now running towards its end.

We first introduced BrownDust2 in early summer, and it's surprising that the season is about to change.

Some might think that 300 draws are a somewhat burdensome number in terms of game operation.
However, since it is the first large-scale summer event,
we thought it was necessary to provide a more fun experience to the users who have enjoyed it so far.

We will continue to provide many drawing opportunities through various events in the future.

In addition, we will inform you of the details of summer limited costumes.

Only Justia and Scheherazade's Pool Party costumes are provided for a limited time.
Lathel, Gray, and Angelica's Pool Party costumes and Sylvia's Admiral Costume are provided normally,
so they will be added to the integrated draw after the pickup is over.

In the future, we will inform you the details through prior notice well so that there is no misunderstanding or confusion.

Weel, let's now talk about various improvements and new content additions planned on August 30th (UTC) update.

**1. Mirror War Official Season (August 30th (UTC) update)**

The Mirror Wars will enter the official season after the 5th experience season.

The changes scheduled for the official season are as follows.

A. Settlement reward change

Starting from the official season, the settlement reward will be changed from ancient crystals to diamonds,
and the number of Medal of the Fighting Spirit awarded for battle victories and defeats will also be slightly adjusted.

B. Mirror War Shop Product Addition

You can purchase ★5 costumes at the Mirror War Shop.

Costumes available for purchase will be changed at regular intervals,
and you can acquire one costume every 4 weeks.
We plan to organize this so that anyone who plays the Mirror War hard can purchase it.

The number of Start Attack SP 5 / Start Defense SP 6 / Recovery SP 6
changed through the August 16th (UTC) update will be maintained.

To further explain the changes,
We aimed for a 7:3 win rate for attack and defense positions,
but after giving buffs to Defense characters, the win rate for attack positions fell lower than expected.

Accordingly, the test was conducted by substituting various cases until just before the update
and it has been changed to the current environment.

As a result of this change, the win rate of the Dia section where the battle takes place the most fiercely has changed as follows.

Below is the change in winning rate for all Ranks from Bronze to Champion.

The win rate of Master rank and above is around 70-80%.
The win rate of Platinum and below is around 50%.

In the lower ranks, it is expected that the win rate is low because there are many users who intentionally lose for quick results.

In the official season, we expect the winning rate to rise since many players will be conducting normal battles to earn increased rewards.

I would appreciate it if you could enjoy the official season of the Mirror Wars.

**2. Evil Castle Official Season (August 30th (UTC) update)**
Along with the Mirror Wars, the official season begins after the 5th experience season.

The changes scheduled for the official season are as follows.

A. Evil Castle season and ranking initialization method change
Just as the 4th to 6th floors of the Devil Castle were expanded with the previous update,
we will continue to provide new challenges through the expansion.
However, since players must play all floors every season, the burden of repetitive play increases at the time of expansion.

Accordingly, the season interval will be maintained on a two-week basis,
but the target score initialization will be changed to a four-week basis,
so that the compensation for floors cleared in the previous season can be obtained immediately next season without having to proceed with the battle.

B. Settlement system and compensation change

Evil Castle season settlement rewards will be changed from floor rewards to combined rewards.

It is a format in which all points obtained for each floor are summed up to determine the overall ranking, and rewards are given accordingly.

The compensation amount of the settlement reward, which is the Ancient Crystal, will be increased.

**3. Story Pack 9 (August 30th (UTC) update)**

The next main story of BrownDust2, Story Pack 9 'Iron Mask', will be updated.

As we informed you through the previous developer notes, 'Iron Mask', deals with the story about a year after 'Bloody Rhapsody'.

after the devastating incident in the Rodev village,
what’s the surprising news that brought the main characters together who were fighting against Warlock in their own way?

What missions will be given to them to fight against evil on the battlefield in a new phase?
Be prepared for the entertaining new story!

And in the Iron Mask Pack, you’ll see Olstein planning to confront Warlock with the main characters.
Characters who came out as assistants in previous stories, such as Sylvia and Rubia, who are allied with Olstein, will also appear again in the story.
We ask for a continuous support towards the characters.

**4. Compensation for adding Guarantee System. (August 30th (UTC) update)**

Costume and Gear random tickets, which are rewards related to the addition of the Draw Guarantee System,
will be sent to your Mailbox on August 31 (KST).

We are currently undergoing final verification based on the extracted data.
We wanted to deliver it faster, but we ask for your understanding that we had to proceed carefully as we must verify all users' [Draw] data.

**5. New Pickup Notice (From August 30th (UTC) update)**
Many users have sent inquiries asking for Pickup of existing costumes.
From August 31st, together with the new costumes, we plan to carry out the pickup of the existing costumes.

First, for two weeks from August 31st to September 14th (KST)
Gentle Maid Anastasia, Fire Graffiti Anastasia costume and Anastasia's exclusive gear will appear as Pickups.
The skill cutscenes of both costumes will also be updated.

**6. Other Improvements**

All the improvements previously informed through GM Lisianne's Letter will be applied.

Next, we will tell you about the September update.

**1. New NPC Quest (September 13th (UTC) update)**

On September 13th (UTC), a new NPC Quest, 'Savers of Shelter', available in Character Pack 2, will be updated.

Savers of Shelter is a story a little after the end of 'Fire Chip', the main story of Character Pack 2.

A new crisis comes when a device in the shelter that is in the middle of an upgrade has a defect.
While the residents are struggling, Wiggle, the only being who can move freely,
goes out of the shelter once again to find someone to help repair the device.

Wiggle, an unknown creature who sets out to save Shelter.
And new colleagues with a unique charm comparable to Wiggle will be with you.
Please look forward to the exciting adventures they will go through.

**2. Steal and Field Repeat Content Improvement (September 13th (UTC) update)**

In the previous developer notes, it was guided under the name of 'Adventure Request'.

We would like to inform you of the improvement in the repeat play convenience of field content.

Previously, field content was also directed to be an overall background process like a Hunting Request.
However, if we develop in this way, we thought that it’s like deleting the content that many players are enjoying on.

Among them, only the structure of Stealing,
which is considered necessary to perform repeatedly to avoid losing money due to high rewards, was reorganized.

We have changed the development direction to keep contents with relatively low rewards,
such as acquisition of Finds, Search Finds, and battles with symbol monsters, so that you can enjoy field fun and play freely as before.

The fatigue of stealing is caused by loading multiple packs every day and repeating the same action.
Like other field content, we're going to lower the steal reward so that you can enjoy it without any burden, and instead,
provide a new mission to get as much reward as you could have gotten from stealing.

The mission will be composed of contents that can be carried out naturally while playing and can be carried out on the desired date.

Below is an example of a new mission reward, and the format and content are subject to change.
A. Steal rewards obtainazble from all NPCs in welcome Pack + Story Pack 1~8
B. Based off of the 3 Characters’ (Rigenette, Bernie, Andrew) Level 5 skill

This mission is provided at all times, and it’s not a one-time mission.
We will inform you of the exact details of the Stealing compensation adjustment and the new mission in a later notice.

**3. Golden Thread Shop Improvement**
In order to make sure the experience of obtaining an additional Costume that you already maxed out is not bad
we concluded that the Golden Thread Shop must have various products available and must have more value.
After putting more thought into providing our users with better and more satisfying products
we decided to add ★5 Costume in the Golden Thread Shop,
and make it rotate set a set interval like the Thread of Hope Shop.
We will provide more information about the price and product details in a future announcement.

**4. New PVE Content: Monster Tracker**
We would like to introduce the new PVE Content that we are preparing, ‘Fiend Tracker’.
A giant monster will show up somewhere in one of the packs once every 4 weeks.
With the help a mysterious girl Marianne who calls herself the ‘Fiend Detective’,
fight to prevent the Fiend from being set free and causing a disaster.

[Story Concept - Mana Storm]
In this world, a phenomenon called Mana Storm occasionally occurs.
It sucks in the mana from the nearby areas and causes all sorts of odd events.
One of the most dangerous events that could happen due to the mana storm
is for a monster to absorb the strong mana from the storm and reborn into a disaster-level giant monstrosity…
On top of this, as long as the Mana Storm persists,
the monster receives endless mana and gets stronger while the body becomes invincible.
The only thing that can stop this disaster are persistent warriors who can face off the monster until the Mana Storm subsides.

People have continued to research how to stop the disasters from the Mana Storm from the ancient times,
The Magic Circles set up in various parts of the world are said to be the remnants of such research.
Also, the researchers of the Mana Storm continued to hone their research technology
and are said to have helped prevent disasters from world even where the normal people don’t even know what mana is…

NPC Introduction - Marianne Dumain

Mysterious girl who calls herself the ‘Fiend Detective’.
She is currently researching the source of Mana Storm due to an anonymous request.
She hopes to one day figure out the source and end this disaster one day…
But she uses the excuses that monsters are too scary to leave the work to be done by assistants she finds on the spot,
so her research doesn’t seem to have gotten too far.
People are often at a loss of words because, despite her cute looks, she talks like an older gentleman that she learnt from her sister Marien.
She feels a sense of rivalry with her sister as detectives.

[Season]
Each of Fiend Tracker’s Seasons will last 4 weeks, each season is split into parts shown below.
Hunting Preparation Period (3 weeks)
Fiend’s details will be provided. This time can be used to plan for how the players will defeat the monsters
Hunting Period (1 week)
The period of time for actually hunting the monsters.

[Content]
The giant monster players face in the Fiend Tracker will endlessly revive.
It will level up and get stronger every time it revives.
The combat can be repeated without limit during the 1 week of Hunting Period.
The highest damage dealt and highest monster level each day will be saved.
On the next day, players can continue from the saved spot.
When restarting the battle, it will start from the previous day’s saved spot.

So accomplish the highest monster level and damage every day.
Attempting to reach and successfully complete the highest monster level that player can get to will be the goal for the week.

[Combat Details]
Unlike other monsters, the Giant Monsters from the Fiend Tracker will have many parts that can be attacked.
Each part of the monster have different weaknesses,
aim to use specific weaknesses or stack debuffs on each part to accumulate higher amount of damage.
Unlike the other monsters, the Giant Monster do not target a specific character as their main target for the attacks.
Instead, it will have a unique attack range where they target a specific spot and the area around it.

[Reward]
Clear Reward
Rewards will be provided every day upon defeating the monster.
Defeated monster will revive and level-up immediately and the next level can be attempted.
Ranking Settlement Reward
Players will compete to see who was able to defeat the highest level monster within the hunting week.
If the same level of monster was defeated,
their ranks will be decided by the amount of damage dealt to the monster(The side that has less Monster HP remaining will win).
When the season ends, rewards will be provided depending on the rank.
Rewards
We are thinking of providing Gold and othe rewards for the Clear Reward while providing Draw Tickets for Rank Reward.

Our goal with the Monster Tracker is to provide a stage for our players’ trained Characters to shine
while also giving a new content that can be enjoyed continuously.
The first Giant Monster will appear in the school from Character Pack 1.
With the giant monster that was never seen before,
we are doing our best to develop it so that we can provide a new and fun experience
where our players can enjoy strategic hunting in this new content.

**PC Client**
As mentioned in the showcase before the release, as the start of the console mode,
the Official PC Client will become available starting from September 21st.
We recognized that the players from PC had to rely on third party App Players to play the game,
but there were compatibility issues causing many inconveniences.
In order to fix this issue from the ground up, we decided to provide an official PC Client.

With the initial launch,
we will provide Google/Apple link that our players are currently using as well as Keyboard+Mouse control support.
We will then add Controllers support and other features.
We will continue to provide improvements so that we can provide convenient and comfortable play experience with the PC Client.

**Select Draw System**
In order to solve the issue where non-pick-up Costumes and Costumes that had passed their Pick-up period were difficult to obtain,
we will be adding a Select Draw System where the Costume of player’s choice will have higher rates.

[Select Draw System Range]
With the addition of the Select Draw System, the Integrated Draw will be removed.
It will be split into Regular Costume Draw and Regular Gear Draw.
Select Draw System will only be applied to these Regular Draws.

[How Select Draw Works]
From the list of available Costumes from the Regular Costume Draw, 6 Costumes can be selected for the Select Draw.
It will only work once all 6 Costumes have been selected.
After selecting the 6 Costumes,
Drawing on it will have 50% chance to obtain one of the 6 selected Costumes if you have obtained a ★5 Costume.

Daily Free Draw will not be available on the Regular Costume Draw and Regular Gear Draw.
Draw Poins will be provided and they can be exchanged for Powder of Hope at any time.
Also, ★4 ~ 5 Costume and SR ~ UR Gear Draw Guaranteed System will be applied the same as other Draws.

**Mirror Wars Combat Skip**
We are aware that in order to spend the daily 40 Cocktails that are provided,
players had to leave the device on for a long time causing fatigue currently.

We think the fun of the Mirror War comes from watching many battles and by using the statistics from the outcomes,
making adjustments to the team to increase the win rates.

As such, we will make it so that the result of the battles can be seen quicker
to better experience the updated win rates from the adjusted formation.

In order to do so, we will be adding a combat skip feature.

[Mirror Wars Combat Skip Feature]

1 turn after the Mirror War combat starts, Skip Button will be activated.
Auto-skip can be set using the repeat-battle settings.

Skipping will show the results of the battle right away.

*Battle Skip can only be done in Mirror Wars.

**Crafting Ability Skills Limit Increase**
Maximum limit of using Equipment Crafting, Alchemy, Cooking ability skills at once will be increased.

Currently the max limit is 100, it will be increased to 1000.
The maximum number of Ability Pills that can be purchased at once will also be increased.

We realized that this has been requested by a lot of our players.
But in order to make this change, we had to make adjustments to how the servers will deal with the results.

This is why we will be applying the ‘Cutscene Skip Update (Aug 31st)’ which can be applied first ahead of time.
We will continue to pay attention to areas where Quality of Life improvements can be made.

Lastly, we will briefly mention some stuff that we are working on after the September updates.

**Continued Addition of New PVE Contents**
The Monster Tracker that we mentioned above and other various PVE Content are currently being worked on.

The goal with the Monster Tracker was to provide a new fun content.
On the other hand, the other content that we are currently prioritizing is based off of the current PVE battle content
where players can battle against various monsters.

**Quest Replayability UI Improvement**
We listened to many feedback from the players who completed the Main quests on Normal Difficulty and is playing through the Hard Difficulty.

A lot of feedback was mentioned where having to go through the same story, puzzle, and movement again was tedious.

As such, we will be making it so that on harder difficulty, the quests that does not affect the difficulty will be auto-completed,
so that the players will only need to focus on the combat.

Harder Difficulty Quests will be played through the UI instead of the field.
Also, the rewards from the higher difficulty wil lbe adjusted so that it will be a worthy content to challenge.

**Character Pack Replayability**
Along with the Quest Replayability Improvements, higher difficulty will be provided on Character Packs as well.

In the Character Pack Normal Difficulty, players had to complete it using only the Temp. Characters.
From Hard difficulty and higher, players will be able to use their characters and Costumes in combat.

**Miscellaneous Planned Updates**

Draw Record System
Equipment Crafting QoL Improvement
Field Movement QoL Improvement

and other system addition and improvements are planned.
As soon as the details for the above updates are set, we will share the information.

This is all we have prepared today.

It feels like it’s been a while since I wrote something.
Perhaps it’s because Lisianne got to it faster than I did last week.

Whenever I write a new Dev Note, I look at the Dev Notes that were previously posted.
The feeling that I got with this one was that there were a ton of changes made within the 2 months of release,
but a lot of them were QoL improvements to inconvenience features.

We were lacking in updating new and fun content.
And as mentioned by a lot of our users, if we had considered that this is a mobile game and if we had prepared these QoL changes on release,
we would’ve been able to provide more fun and interesting content instead of spending the 2 months removing inconvenience.

If we had focused on making sure the inconveniences our players were feeling were removed from the game as soon as possible so far,
we will now work on continuously providing new ways to have fun
as well as charming characters and fresh new content
while also making sure that we are more thorough with the updates so that we do not miss any inconveniences that our players may experience.
