+ Unique gimmick of dealing high AOE damage on the skill turn, then high basic attack damage (single target) on the cooldown turn
+ High damage on all turns
+ Low SP cost upkeep over time: Spend 4 SP on your first turn, recover 1 SP on your second turn (from basic attack)
- Niche skill set, not many kinds of battles where she particularly shines
- AOE is limited
- Since she is a limited collab unit, she is unlikely to get new costumes for the foreseeable future
- Exclusive weapon is also limited: if you miss it on the banner, it may never return
Yozakura for PVE
Yozakura's gimmick is that she has two different attack modes. On the turn you use her skill, she does a strong AOE magic attack (at +5 full potential, it's 3x285% damage). On your next turn, whilst her skill is on cooldown, she hits a single target with a very strong basic attack (at +5 full potential, it's 1200% damage). On all turns, her damage is very good, and much better than most other wind costumes.
Although her damage is very high and it is a pretty cool mechanic, it's hard to find a kind of battle that suits her gimmick well.
For consistent single target damage, Yozakura can't compete with Hikage, who is by far the better single target destroyer.
For AOE damage, Yozakura's skill AOE is very strong amongst wind attackers, but the range is relatively small compared to other attackers like DJ.Venaka and of course Yomi (who is distributed for free during the event). Yozakura simply isn't well suited to clearing large mobs.
It's also hard to find a kind of battle where alternating between AOE and single target damage is desirable. Most of the time, you will either want to go for full AOE damage or full single target concentrated damage. Rarely would you need to do both.
There are a few niche scenarios where Yozakura's skillset could potentially be useful, for example:
- If the enemy had short silence effects, Yozakura could still continue to use a strong basic attack whilst silenced;
- If the enemy had conditional effects where you needed to avoid hitting certain tiles on certain turns, Yozakura would be nice;
- If there were a long battle where SP was extremely scarce, Yozakura would be an SP efficient choice (net cost of 3 SP over 2 turns).
Overall, she's a high damage dealer, but her gimmick does not really allow her to excel in any particular game mode.
Yozakura's weapon
There's one more really important thing to consider before investing in Yozakura: HER UNIQUE GEAR IS LIMITED.
If you want to truly max out her attack power, not only do you have to get her to +5 before the limited banner runs out, you also need to get a copy of her unique gear, which increases her M.ATK by 45% on the bonus stat. If you miss getting it on the limited weapon banner, you lose your shot at that extra stat forever.
That's a very big investment cost to go for both the costume and the weapon, so choose wisely before committing.
Yozakura for PVP
Yozakura is not recommended for PVP, simply because her impact is not enough to justify her 4 SP skill cost. In addition, she has a low HP stat so she is not tanky enough to reliably survive past the first turn or so.
A 4 SP attack into a 0 SP attack next turn is not very good value, especially when there is no guarantee that you'll survive to the next turn. If her skill had been the other way around (a 0 SP attack into a 4 SP attack next turn), she would have been insanely good value, but sadly that is not what her skill does.
Conclusion
Yokazura is definitely a hard hitter, but she comes with a somewhat janky mechanic that's hard to find a good use for. It's also a very big investment to get her to maximum power before the limited banners on her costume and weapon.
Yomi +5 is already being released as a strong wind attacker, and at Yomi at +5 hits harder than a low costume level Yokazura. Therefore, for most players, it may not be a high priority to make a heavy investment in Yokazura for only a moderate increase to the power of your PVE wind roster.
