Costume Guide – Labyrinth Gatekeeper Nebris

Official Patch Notes

Exclusive Weapon

Overview

High damage potential if she can combo her skills over several turns

High offensive base stats (396 ATK, 75% C.DMG)

She has 2 skills with 3 turn cooldown (so she can cycle between skills with no downtime)

Good synergy with Laidback Lifeguard costume, and you do not need Laidback Lifeguard at high level to make Labyrinth Gatekeeper work well.

Takes time for her skill to build up power, not suited for quick battles

Nebris for PVE

LG.Nebris's skill is not described very clearly in game. In summary, Nebris's skill can apply two different kinds of buffs (but only 1 at a time), and it's designed to be at its most powerful on every 2nd time you use it (since you will have both buffs applied).

First skill activation

The first part of her skill says "For 6 turns, damage dealt to the target increases by X%". This wording sounds as if she applies a debuff to the enemy that amplifies incoming damage, but that's not actually how it works. Instead, the skill actually gives Nebris a buff which amplifies her own damage.

Therefore, when she receives this buff at +5 full potential (and without any external buffs applied), Nebris deals 2 x 225% x 250% x 105% = 1181.25% after chain damage. This is of course very high damage.

However, testing shows that Nebris's damage amplification buff stacks additively to other damage amplification debuffs (i.e. they do not multiply each other). The screenshot below shows testing of a +0 Nebris with 1000 ATK after being buffed by Game Club Rafina. The damage dealt was calculated as follows:

1250 (skill damage) x 300% (base 100% + Nebris 100% + Rafina 100%) x 130% (chain damage) = 4875 damage per hit

Since Nebris adds to the effect of other damage amplification debuffs (like GC.Rafina and RH.Zenith) but does not multiply their effect, Nebris's attack power effectively scales down when used in conjunction with other damage amplifiers.

Second skill activation

The second part of LG.Nebris's skill says "If you have a damage dealt increase effect, Crit Damage increases by X% instead".

The first time you use LG.Nebris's skill, Nebris gains the "damage dealt increase effect" for 6 turns. Therefore, when you use LG.Nebris's skill for the second time in battle (whilst the "damage dealt increase effect" is still active), she will obtain the Crit Damage buff instead.

With both buffs applied, Nebris becomes very powerful. She has potentially the strongest wind attacks in the game, though she can only use a full powered every 5 turns.

PVE uses for Nebris

Since Nebris takes time to set up big nuke turns, she is a strong choice in fiend hunts and guild raids against water-type bosses. Nebris has 2 costumes with 3 SP and 3 turn cooldown, so she can repeatedly cycle through her costumes without any downtime. What's more, her other costume, Laidback Lifeguard, also gives her a small buff for either 50% ATK or 50% property damage, which further increases her Turn 5 nuke damage.

In other PVE modes, her damage as a wind attacker holds up, but it's harder to make full use of her skill power in battles where you would prefer to simply close out the battle quickly.

Nebris for PVP

LG.Nebris's main advantage in PVP is her deep reaching range. LG.Nebris is one of the few costumes that can hit a full column. Although costumes like NB.Eclipse and DJ.Venaka are generally considered to have better range, they are unable to clear a full column if there is only one enemy in the front row and one enemy in the back, whereas Nebris can. This unusual range advantage can give Nebris the element of surprise against certain formations. On top of this, Nebris has high offensive stats and deals very respectable skill damage (as calculated above).

Still, as a character who only has 3 SP skills, it's hard to fit Nebris into an attack team, given that attack teams only start with a scarce 5 SP. Nebris also faces a lot of competition from other good 3 SP attackers that have special utility effects in addition to just good damage, such as Venaka (M.RES shred) and Schera (buff removal).

Conclusion

Labyrinth Gatekeeper is a good costume, but with a confusing skill description. For long battles (fiend hunts and guild raids), she is one of the best wind attackers available. A great unit to have, but since she's not limited, you may wish to save your tickets for the upcoming limited collab units instead.
