Costume Guide – Track and Field Team Member Loen

Overview

M.ATK buff has high synergy with Last Hope Loen, making Last Hope even harder hitting

3 turn cooldown (with potential upgrade) allows you to cycle between this and Last Hope without any downtime

Loen is the only fire magic attacker to date

Costume doesn't work well without Last Hope Loen

Fire is a crowded element with several other good AOE options

Own damage doesn't scale well in PVE

High SP cost on all costumes makes her a poor choice in PVP

Loen for PVE

With Last Hope Loen

Last Hope Loen (LH.Loen) is the hardest hitting magic unit in the game with her 750% multiplier, and certainly the hardest hitting magic 3x3 AOE by a long shot. Comparing her to other magic 3x3's at +5 full potential, MB.Celia deals 3x160%, MSP.Schera deals 5x65%, and Summer.Dalvi deals 4x75% (with 105% burn). None of these come close to LH.Loen's 750% nuke.

Track and Field Loen (TF.Loen) role is to make LH.Loen hit even harder. TF.Loen's buff lasts 4 turns, so it can set up a big LH.Loen attack on your next turn.

It's obvious that Loen was designed with wind fiend hunts in mind. The playstyle of "setting up buffs on one turn and then unleashing a big attack on the next turn" is perfectly suited to fiend hunts. What's more, Loen has base 5% crit and 100% crit damage (instead of the usual 10% crit and 50% crit damage), which is again perfectly suited to fiend hunts, where crit rate is largely irrelevant.

Once buffed with TF.Loen, LH.Loen is far stronger than her closest fire rival, Maid Liatris (who deals "only" 700% damage in a 3x3 AOE, after being set up by RS.Liatris).

Without Last Hope Loen

If you don't have LH.Loen, then TF.Loen on her own is not all that impressive for PVE.

Firstly, her damage does not scale well with other M.ATK buffers (because buffs of the same type stack additively). In PVE, you are almost always going to be using other M.ATK buffers.

Secondly, her AOE is relatively small (compared to other fire options), hitting at most 3 tiles at a time.

Thirdly, there are many other good fire attacker options with better AOE and better utility. Fire is a crowded element, with other good fire attackers including Liatris, Rubia, Eris, and so on.

Loen for PVP

Loen is not good for PVP due to her high cost and mediocre impact.

Conclusion

Whether to pull for Track and Field Loen really just comes down to whether you are already invested in (or plan to be invested in) Last Hope Loen. Track and Field Loen's main role is to set up a bigger attack next turn with Last Hope Loen.

If you want to high score on wind fiend hunts, then you need to have both Loen costumes. If you are not looking to high score though, there are plenty of other fire characters that can get you to Lv 10.
