Overview
Pros:
- Biggest single target damage amplification in the game.
- Good AOE with potential upgrade.
- Other costume has great synergy with this one, making Eris a strong package overall (especially against tough wind bosses in PVE)
- Short 3 turn cooldown time
Cons:
- As a fire attacker, she faces a lot of competition from other great fire options
- Amplifies only damage to the main target (unlike GC.Rafina)
- SP cost is on the high side for PVP
- Since she's an offensive-type limited costume, you need to commit to a big investment in a short period of time if you want her at full offensive power.
- Since she's a limited character, it's unlikely that we'll get more costumes in the future to make her better overall (whereas other non-limited characters will get better over time as new costumes are released).
Does Cat Eris stack with GC.Rafina?
First up, the tests below show that Cat Eris stacks with GC.Rafina, but it stacks by addition, not multiplication.
As you can see from the two pictures above, with no buffs, Yuri attacked for 12344. With both GC.Rafina and Cat Eris buffs, she attacked for 43205, which is exactly 250% extra (100% extra from GC.Rafina and 150% from Cat Eris). This confirms that the buffs stack additively.
Eris for PVE
Even putting aside her damage amplification, Eris is a solid unit. At +5 full potential she stacks 5 chains and deals 5x80%, or 480% including chain damage.
With her damage amplification applied to her main target, she deals a whopping 1080% damage to the main target:
Damage | Chain dmg | Skill amp | Damage |
80% | 1x | 1x | 80% |
80% | 1.1x | 2.5x | 220% |
80% | 1.2x | 2.5x | 240% |
80% | 1.3x | 2.5x | 260% |
80% | 1.4x | 2.5x | 280% |
TOTAL | 1080% |
Needless to say, that's very high, and comes very close to the damage of her other costume, EA.Eris.
This means that Cat Eris is great for any PVP battles with tough single target bosses. She can clear surrounding mobs and then focus fire on the big boss. She is also great for stacking chains in Last Night.
Eris's weapon
There's one more really important thing to consider before investing in Eris: HER UNIQUE GEAR IS LIMITED.
Like with Roxy, if you want to truly max out Eris's attack power, not only do you have to get her to +5 before the limited banner runs out, you also need to get a copy of her unique gear, which increases her ATK by 45% on the bonus stat. Given that Eris's role is an attacker, you want Eris to do the highest damage possible, but if you miss getting it on the limited weapon banner, you lose your shot at that extra 45% ATK forever.
That's a very big investment cost to go for both the costume and the weapon, so choose wisely before committing.
Eris for PVP
Eris sadly does not have a great package for PVP. Cat Eris has an expensive cost (4 SP after potential SP reduction), but doesn't really have the impact to justify the cost. Eris also doesn't have a low-cost alternate costume to open with.
Cat Eris can be contrasted with a costume like Empress Rubia. Although Empress Rubia is expensive, she pairs well as a followup to Maid Rubia, who is a cheap and strong opener. Unfortunately, neither of Eris's costumes are cheap.
Cat Eris can also be compared to Stray Cat Rou, who has the same cost and same AOE (and is also a cat). Stray Cat Rou sees relatively little play in high ranking PVP (except as a third or fourth pick costume for Rou), so it's not very likely that Cat Eris would see significantly more popularity.
Conclusion
Cat Eris is now the best costume for beating strong single target bosses, thanks to her high damage amplification skill. When paired with EA.Eris, they together make an extremely powerful fire unit with Cat Eris setting up the damage amplification and EA.Eris then following through with the big finish.
However, it's a big investment to go for both costumes and her unique weapon during the 2 week limited period, so choose wisely before committing to the investment.
