Official Patch Notes

Overview

Massive, definitely one of the biggest... in terms of damage, of course.

3 SP (after potential upgrade) is a great cost for a wide AOE 3x3 attack.

Eclipse is already one of the best magic attackers and one of the best dark-type attackers, and this complements Eclipse's other costumes well

Very long cooldown (11 turns)

Eclipse's best costume, Nightmare Bunny, is limited

In PVE, her high damage multiplier is offset by the fact that Eclipse has lower than average base damage and that her exclusive weapon is a crit accessory (not crit damage).

Eclipse for PVE

Eclipse is already one of the best dark attackers available. She has two very strong attacking costumes, Dimension Witch and Nightmare Bunny. If you already have a strong Eclipse, then it makes perfect sense to round out her kit with the Beach Vacation costume.

There are two good reasons to get Beach Vacation (and I'm not talking about the art!).

Firstly, Beach Vacation completes Eclipse's costume cycle by filling the Turn 7 gap that was previously empty, as follows:

Turn 1: DW > Turn 3: NB > Turn 5: DW > Turn 7: BV > Turn 9: DW > Turn 11: NB > Turn 13: DW

This is particularly useful in fiend hunts, as you can improve your score a lot by filling the gap turn.

Secondly, Beach Vacation is now the best dark magic attack in the game, with effectively a 900% damage multiplier at +5 full potential. Nartas can technically do better damage, but Nartas is fairly niche as he only deals full damage against physical type enemies, so very few players invest in him right now. Note that Eleaneer's attacks are also very strong, but Eleaneer is not directly comparable because she is a "front" physical-type attacker and also has a much smaller AOE.

Despite her big skill damage, Eclipse is held back by a relatively low M.ATK stat. Her base M.ATK is only 308. This can be contrasted with Dalvi (352), Venaka (363), and Schera (385). Further, her exclusive gear is not ideal for PVE, as you will usually get more damage from a Venomous Touch (C.DMG / C.DMG) than her exclusive gear.

Eclipse for PVP

Eclipse is already very strong for PVP. Beach Vacation is unlikely to replace Nightmare Bunny or Dimension Witch as an opener (Nightmare Bunny has M.RES shred and SP drain, and Dimension Witch has better cost and SP drain). However, Beach Vacation works incredibly well as a second or third costume for Eclipse, and also ensures that Eclipse has no gap in her costume cycle on your third or fourth turn.

With its very high damage output and AOE, Beach Vacation is a near guaranteed kill if it follows Nightmare Bunny's M.RES shred.

Because of its synergy with other S-tier Eclipse costumes, Beach Vacation gets an S-tier rating for PVP. However, without Eclipse's other costumes, Beach Vacation's utility in PVP is good, but not amazing.

Conclusion

If you already have Nightmare Bunny and Dimension Witch Eclipse, then it makes perfect sense to complete her kit with the Beach Vacation costume, particularly for use in fiend hunts and PVP.

If you don't already have Eclipse's other costumes, before you start investing, keep in mind that Nightmare Bunny is limited, and most likely will not re-run until early 2025 (if it reruns at all). Even though Beach Vacation is a very good costume on its own, just be aware that you won't be able to reach Eclipse's full power in fiend hunts and PVP without all 3 of her costumes.
