Banner Guide – Lovely Lady Elise

Official Patch Notes

Exclusive Gear

Overview

The only costume to reduce both DEF and M.RES, and one of the best AOE DEF shredders

Improved skill damage from recent balance patch

Base ATK is really too low (275) to be used as a main attacker

There are many other fire element attackers with better damage and range

Without investment in both costume levels and tears, she has a high SP cost.

You almost never need both DEF and M.RES reduction at the same time

Elise for PVE

In the December 2024 patch, Lovely Lady Elise received a balance upgrade with improved damage. She now deals 3x220% (660%), which is considered a good damage multiplier. With her good plus-shaped AOE and improved damage multiplier, this makes Elise a decent character to bring into any game mode.

Despite this, Elise suffers from 2 significant drawbacks.

The first big drawback is her base ATK. The "average" attacker has base ATK of 352 at Lv 100 (before engraving): e.g. Liatris, Rubia, etc all have 352 base ATK. On the other hand, Elise's base ATK is only 275. This makes her a lot weaker than most other 5-star fire attackers, even though the damage multiplier on her skill is good.

The second problem is that fire is a very crowded element, and there are a lot of options for good fire attackers. In fact, fire has the most attackers of any element. For example, Loen, Levia, and Liatris are all very strong fire attackers with better damage and better AOE than Elise. Since there are many better options for fire, this makes Elise comparatively less attractive as a fire attacker.

Therefore, Elise is not the best choice as your main attacker for a fire team. If you already have other fire attackers with better damage and AOE, then Elise's main role is as a DEF/M.RES shredder. Lovely Lady Elise is the only costume in the game that reduces both DEF and M.RES. Although you usually won't need both in the same battle, it's nice to have one costume that can do both.

In terms of DEF reduction, Elise is one of the best. Her 50% DEF reduction is better than Empress Rubia, who can only shred 45% DEF at full potential. Marauder Kry (4-star) can also shred 50% DEF, but his AOE is an X-shape so it is used for different kinds of enemy formations to Elise.

In terms of M.RES reduction, although Elise's M.RES reduction is good, Elise is a physical attacker, and it's generally not efficient to bring a physical attacker in a magic team (because they don't benefit from M.ATK buffs). Therefore for M.RES reduction, usually the better choices would be DJ.Venaka or Samay, both of which offer 50% M.RES shred.

Overall, this means that Elise is pretty good to bring into any PVE game mode, but does not excel at anything (other than when you need a good DEF shredder).

Elise for PVP

Elise is fairly good for PVP defense teams, but falls short of other costumes who are better at performing a similar role.

Thanks to her DEF shred, Lovely Lady Elise deals quite reliable damage for a reasonable cost of 3 SP. Her DEF shred makes up for her low base ATK, and she can also be paired with H.Lathel or BA.Teresse for a further damage boost.

However, when it comes to DEF shredding attackers, Empress Rubia is usually a better choice. Rubia's 6 hit combo is better at breaking evasion (e.g. WC.Rou, PP.Justia) and her AOE is usually better at catching multiple enemies. In addition, Rubia has better followup costumes than Elise: Maid Rubia (who has evasion) is generally a much better costume for PVP than Code Name O Elise (which is just a vanilla small AOE attack).

It's also hard to find a good reason to choose Lovely Lady Elise over DJ Venaka. For the same SP cost, DJ Venaka also shreds 50% M.RES, but hits harder and in a wider AOE. Wind is also an advantageous elemental typing in the current meta, as there water tanks (e.g. Glacia, Morphea) but no fire tanks.

Elise therefore works well in lower ranks, but sees relatively little play in higher rank PVP.

Exclusive Gear

Since Elise is not considered a very strong attacker and does not currently excel in any game mode, it is not recommended to spend pulls on her exclusive gear. Her exclusive gear gives an additional 67 ATK, which somewhat makes up for her low base ATK, but still leaves her well below average.

Conclusion

Other than for cutscene enjoyment, it is not recommended to pull on Elise's banner. Despite the recent balance buffs, the offensive power on her skill is still below average. She is a decent all-rounder, but does not excel at any particular role (other than in a small number of battles where you need AOE DEF or M.RES reduction, and can't use 4-star Kry or Samay).

Note that a copy of Lovely Lady Elise can be found in the pub random encounters (if you haven't found her already).
