Costume Guide – Dancing Snowflake Yumi (limited)

Official Patch Notes

Exclusive Weapon

Overview

Unique burn mechanic that grows in power over time

Huge damage in battles that last many turns (fiend hunts, guild raids)

Not very good value for short battles

AOE is vertical only, and cannot always hit multiple weak points for fiends and guild bosses

Big investment required, as the highest burn power is locked behind +5.

Since she is a limited collab unit, she is unlikely to get new costumes for the foreseeable future

Exclusive weapon is also limited: if you miss it on the banner, it may never return

Yumi for PVE

Yumi deals high damage straight out of the gate, but her unique ability is that her burn power grows over time. She is therefore very good in all PVE game modes, but best for long battles such as fiend hunts and guild raids.

Like Rodev's Star Liatris and Summer Vacation Dalvi, Yumi skill deals initial damage, and then burn damage at the end of the turn. Unlike Lia and Dalvi though, Yumi's initial damage is very high (600% plus chain damage at +5 full potential). This alone makes Yumi worth playing.

Yumi's skill introduces a new "stack" mechanic. Each hit applies 1 stack of burn damage. Yumi attacks 5 times with her skill, so she is able to apply 5 stacks of burn damage each turn. At +0, 5 stacks means the burn damage is 50% of her M.ATK. At +5, 5 stacks means the burn damage is 100% of her M.ATK.

The stacks do not expire. Assuming you activate her skill every turn, in a game that lasts 10 turns (5 player turns) the enemy has 25 stacks by the final turn. In a game that lasts 20 turns (10 player turns), the enemy has 50 stacks by the final turn.

Although the burn damage lasts only 3 turns, Yumi has no cooldown on her skill, which means that you can repeatedly use her skill every turn to apply a never-ending burn on your opponent.

Here's a quick table that summarizes her growing damage over time. Note that her actual damage is in fact higher than what is listed in the "total damage" column, because chain damage is not taken into account. Since burn damage is applied at the end of the turn, it will always activate with at least 5 chain stacks (since Yumi stacks 5), but it may be a lot more depending on how many chain stacks the rest of your team applies.

TurnInitial damageBurn damageTotal damage
1600%100% (5 stacks)700% (plus chain dmg)
2100% (5 stacks)100% (plus chain dmg)
3600%200% (10 stacks)800% (plus chain dmg)
4200% (10 stacks)200% (plus chain dmg)
5600%300% (15 stacks)900% (plus chain dmg)
6300% (15 stacks)300% (plus chain dmg)
7600%400% (20 stacks)1000% (plus chain dmg)
8400% (20 stacks)400% (plus chain dmg)
9600%500% (25 stacks)1100% (plus chain dmg)
10500% (25 stacks)500% (plus chain dmg)

As you can see, Yumi is insane value over time. She far exceeds the damage output potential of any other water costume available to date.

Yumi's weapon

Like with other collab characters, keep in mind that HER UNIQUE UR GEAR IS LIMITED.

If you want to truly max out her attack power, not only do you have to get her to +5 before the limited banner runs out, you also need to get a copy of her unique gear, which increases her M.ATK by 67 on the bonus stat. It's not a huge difference, but if you miss getting it on the limited weapon banner, you lose your shot at that extra stat forever.

That's a very big investment cost to go for both the costume and the weapon, so choose wisely before committing.

Note that you can obtain her SR unique gear for free via the event.

Yumi for PVP

Yumi is pretty good value for a 3 SP costume in PVP.

First of all, she is capable of taking out a full column of enemies, which makes her very reliable and good value.

Secondly, even though she is most powerful in long battles, her damage is no joke on Turn 1 either: 5x120% + 100% burn damage is enough to take out most enemies that don't have high M.RES.

Thirdly, her stats are pretty good for PVP. She has a high 100% crit dmg base stat which can be paired with Helena for a potential full column wipe. She has 15% base M.RES (23% with Engraving), which makes it easier for her to go for a 90 DEF / 90 M.RES build or a high M.RES / high HP build. Her base HP stat is also decent at 2016, which is a lot higher than glass cannons like Roxy (1449) and Schera (1638), but a little less than Justia (2121).

Still, the state of PVP at the moment is that a high damage 3 SP skill like Yumi's is not quite enough to substantially shake the competitive meta. Most of the top tier costumes either have low cost (0 to 2 SP) or additional utility effects (e.g. DEF/M.RES shred, SP drain, etc).

Conclusion

Yumi is a high value pull, and one you don't want to miss out on. It's likely that she will be a staple for all fire fiends and guild raid bosses for the foreseeable future. If you care about getting high scores on guild raids and fiend hunts, you'll definitely want her at +5.
