+ Incredibly high base ATK
+ Big range and strong AOE damage
+ Very high single target vulnerability that lasts 4 turns (i.e. can be combo'd with Apostle Blade)
+ 3 turn cooldown means no gap on the vulnerability debuff
- Abysmally low HP, needs help from teammates to survive strong attacks
- Vulnerability effect is only single target, which doesn't synergize well with her AOE based attacks
- Blade currently has a cooldown gap with the costumes available (Young Lady has 3 turn CD, Apostle has 5 turn CD)
- High cost and very low HP makes her not competitive for PVP
Blade for PVE
In our last guide for Apostle Blade, we highlighted the fact that Blade has sky high offensive stats, but extremely low HP stats (in fact, lower than all 3-star characters other than Wiggle). This makes her a glass cannon who deals very high damage, but needs support from defensive buffers to be kept alive.
Apostle Blade is very strong, but since it has a long 5 turn cooldown, investing in a YL.Blade is necessary to complete Blade's kit. Basically, if you've invested in Apostle Blade, you'll want to invest in YL.Blade too.
YL.Blade is pretty good value for PVE battles since she is good at both clearing mobs and taking out tough bosses. The AOE is quite unique in that it hits a 3x3 range, but targets the very front tile (whereas most 3x3 attacks target the center tile). This makes it useful for clearing tricky enemy mob formations.
On the other hand, her vulnerability debuff only affects the main target (similar to Cat Eris), not the AOE targets. The vulnerability debuff applies before her attack, so she hits her main target very hard (base 600% with 2.5x amplification, plus 4 chain stacks).
Note that the damage amplification lasts 4 turns, so it can be used to boost Apostle Blade's initial damage and counterattack damage. If you can manage to trigger multiple counterattacks, you can rack up astronomical damage against the main target very quickly.
Blade's kit is very good for fiend hunts and guild raids when both Young Lady and Apostle are used together (as long as you can keep Blade alive!). YL.Blade is also quite good in Tower of Salvation due to her helpful AOE and boss killing ability. In Tower of Pride, she's helpful for clearing mobs on Lv6 but not for high scoring (because there are currently no floors for dark teams). In Last Night, Blade's damage and chain stacking is quite good, but just bear in mind that the vulnerability effect does not work.
Blade for PVP
Unfortunately Blade is not very good for PVP due to her high cost skills and abysmally low HP.
Although Young Lady Blade's AOE is great, there's really no reason to use Young Lady Blade over Wind Dancer Venaka, who has the same AOE, but for a cheaper SP cost and more consistent damage amplification across all targets. Venaka also has access to DJ Venaka who is one of the best PVP attackers available.
Exclusive Gear
As with most attacker characters, having the exclusive gear provides a healthy 45% ATK boost on the bonus stat. This is nice to have, but she works perfectly fine without her exclusive gear unless you are trying to high score.
Conclusion
Damage and more damage: that's what Blade is all about. When the damage amplification from Young Lady is combined with the crazy counterattack power of Apostle, Blade has the potential to deal more damage than any other character. Since Young Lady's damage amplification lasts 4 turns, it can stay up indefinitely and can be used to amplify Apostle Blade's damage (both initial and counterattack damage) against the main target.
If you're already invested in Apostle, you really also need to have Young Lady (especially since Apostle has a long 5 turn cooldown). On the other hand, if you haven't invested in Apostle, Young Lady is still a good costume on her own, but you won't be able to get the full value out of it.
